"Useful for home studio"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Does what I need for a home studio - big help in mixing and mastering recordings. Helps you find a balance that sounds decent across a variety of sound systems, especially if you mix with headphones.Only complaint is that the VRM app doesn't play nicely with spaces on Mac OS X. You can't use Command + Tab to switch to it if it's not in the space you're currently focused in. Be sure to configure it to the same space as your DAW software so you can tab to it from there. The app should come to front whenever you select it with Command + Tab. Nice if Focusrite would fix this bug.

"Excellent little box that works as advertised!"

Just buy it, you won't be sorry. Whoever is living with you will truly appreciate the new dimension of monitor mixing via headphones. Silence to others is bliss...
Sound
The audio quality is excellent and this product provides a unique dimension to critical headphone monitoring.
Features
The different monitor speaker settings are sufficient to get a unique perspective for monitor mixes.
Ease of Use
This product is definitely easy to use. Some additional explanation regarding the S/PDIF override to the USB streaming would have been helpful.
Quality
It is helpful to understand that the audio processing is performed in the attached computer and if there isn't adequate spare MIPS, this could affect the audio performance. There is a utility that is included that controls the buffer size. This is critical to obtaining excellent audio performance. The documentation doesn't clearly describe where and how to adjust the buffer size. The USB driver occasionally locks up but can be easily restarted... Something to improve in the next driver release.
Value
This unique product is definitely worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed any so I'm giving them a "10"
The Wow Factor
Definitely a very sexy product and performs as advertised.

"Never got it to work."

Ease of Use
I have a Lenovo W520 and run 64-bit Win7 Pro, and although drivers installed and the VRM Box console seemed to recognize the unit, I couldn't get the MME driver to respond with Reason 5 and the latest version of Reaper. I really want an ASIO driver so I can use it with Cubase (with only a USB connection), but it is not an ASIO device and you would have use another ASIO interface's S/PDIF output to connect the VRM Box (who wants to do that?). I have lots of audio interfaces, and have not had this type of problem getting any of those other units to work first try. After a couple of weeks of sending emails back and forth to their support, and trying drivers downloaded from their site, I gave up and returned the device. I figure that, if they are smart, they will come out with an ASIO version of it soon, and I might try that. It is very odd that they put it out without an ASIO driver.

Manufacturer Support
Their email support responded after some days, which is acceptable, but not great. They never get it to work, and just said to load their most current drivers, so I can't say their advice was acceptable.
The Wow Factor
I would like a product like this that works plug-in-play (without the S/PDIF daisy chain thing), and prefer to have an ASIO driver.
