One morning a few years ago this was under the Christmas tree. I had mused to my wife that I'd like a bass for Christmas but never thought she'd go through with it! All I said was that I wanted a P-bass and this was the lowest priced one in the store (on special). She grabbed it and it's perfect. Never would have picked it myself but I'm sure glad she did. Just the way it goes I guess. I have gigged with this, with a pro-sound setup and it sounds wicked. Don't let its "basic-ness" fool you it plays and sounds awesome.

would only replace it if it got lost or stolen. i would replace it with another fender p bass
Sound
I learned bass on a 1962 fender p bass, when I went to buy a bass I played a jazz and the 60 anniversary p bass. I purchased the 60 anniversary p bass because it felt and played as sweet as the original 62, sounds outstanding. I play bakersfield sound country with this bass and a peavy amp plugged into a 62 bassman 2 12 cab. sound is great!
