"A really great guitar!"

This is the first time doing business with Zzounds and, first off, the service and pricing were excellent. I have been looking for a travel guitar to keep in my car and play while I have breaks at work. There was no way I was bringing my Martin D-28 for this purpose. First it is too big and second it cost me a small fortune, but you get what pay for. Which brings me to this little guy. Most of the travel guitars out there look sort of funky, with the exception of the Taylor which looks a lot better than the Little Martin. But the PMTE looks like an actual guitar and is half the price of the Taylor!I was amazed. It come with a built in tuner with the Fishman setup, which is super nice and sounds great plugged in! This is an all wood instrument that has a great sound. For some reason it is super easy to play as well. The fingerboard just feels right and fast. It has a really nice headstock with a nice inlay and the original Fender logo which has a nice retro look. Pretty bindings and a nice rose eye that compliments the inlays. This is a good looker for sure. Doesn’t look like a toy guitar as was my impression with its competitors. The sound is respectable. Plugged in it is great. Unplugged, it has a smaller sound which for its size is quite nice. Ok so it isn’t a $3000 guitar and I didn’t expect it to be my Martin with its awesome projection. But this has a nice sound and pretty good projection. If you need more than it can put out, plug it in. I didn’t buy this to perform with, but clearly it has that feel, quality and sound to do so. Plus, it comes with a super deluxe hard case, worth about $150 on its own. Add the included humidifier and there is nothing else one needs! Tremendous value for sure and a really nice warm sound. For $299 THIS IS A STEAL!Lastly, from other reviews I was expecting to have to do a setup. However, the action is spot on and the intonation was perfect. I still might set it up after a couple of weeks playing it, but the isn’t really a need to do so. I am a bit of a perfectionist but this right out of the box is perfect. This guitar, my fourth in the collection does exactly what I wanted and needed and is an awesome bargain. I highly recommend this guitar for travel. You also can perform with it, but that isn’t why I bought it. But I can say, I am totally pleased with the purchase and the service from If you need to use it for a performance, I would have zero reservations doing so. It is a solid all around performer!

I have been playing primarily acoustics since 1957. (Maybe why I now have 14 of them). This is a really nice sounding well-balanced sounding guitar. If you are looking for the boomy dreadnought sound then this may not be the guitar for you. This a well made, beautiful instrument. I have the all mahogany model. The checkerboard binding and rosette give it an upscale, but vintage look. The inlays are well done. I can find no faults in this guitar. Tuners work well, stays in tune. The nice hardshell case is easily worth half the sale price of $299. Sounds good unplugged or plugged in. Also comes with a humidifier, nice touch. This is a very comfortable to play guitar to play. Action and intonation were good right out of the box. I am amazed that I got an all solid wood guitar for this price, not to mention the really nice Fender hardshell case. This size guitar is great for finger picking or strumming and very easy to sing over. This was my first purchase from zZounds and was very happy with them, their packaging and speedy delivery. All I can say is get one while they are going for this price. I have many much more expensive guitars, but since I got this one the others probably feel neglected.

I have to admit price attracted me to this instrument. What's not to like. All solid wood construction, Fishman Pickup System (subtlety installed not just hacked into the side of the guitar), and a slick hardshell case. This is a guitar that you buy for a youngster looking to play, or if you want to chill and play the guitar in your easy chair while you watch TV, or take it with you camping. This is not something you buy and expect it to sound like a full size Taylor or Martin. But when the guitar came, aside from the features I was impressed with the sound. Plugged in the, Fishman system sounds amazing. Unplugged this guitar sounds better than your standard "Baby" style guitar. The guitar is not a shrunken dreadnought, but more of a auditorium size. BTW, the action and setup is great with no fret buzz up the neck. The neck has a bit of a v-shape feel to me and is pretty comfortable. If you can get one at this price you won't be disappointed!

"Excellent guitar, maybe the best travel guitar I have every encountered"

Well constucted, good/well rounded volume, mellow and well-defined tone. This is an excellent "composing" guitar you can keep close at hand, along with being a convenient travel guitar. It sounds like a big guitar when plugged in. It's a quality sound system, comparable to Taylor's. Mine is an all-mahagony model. I give this guitar a 10 as a quality travel guitar, and it's no slouch when up against full size guitars when plugged in. Have received compliments from others on its tone.

Bought this based on it being all solid woods and it comes w/dhsc. The case is very nice, Guitar is also decent. A little muted and boxy, but it’s a parlor size and brand new. Had to dress the fret ends and slot the high E nut slot. Tuners are the cheap part of this guitar. Will be replacing with Grover open back 18:1. Fretboard was super dry as well, cleaned, oiled and strung with Martin retro’s. The retros are a perfect match for this all hog guitar. Really brings out the warmth. Factory strings were horrible. I added a a fire strip L-00 pick guard to mine and it totally improved the looks. Hoping this mahogany top opens up over time. The scale is very short as is the nut width. Really wish it was 1.75” nut and 24.5” scale. It feels cramped, like it’s more of a child’s size. Feels very similar to a GS mini for scale and nut width. I prefer the Martin Djr scale and wider nut, but this guitar is half the price and has a hard shell case.
