"Amazing version of a jazz bass, flawless"

This is the prototypical jazz bass on steroids; 18v preamp, full 3 band eq, and American made. Yes it is pricey so try to get the best deal you can or better yet grab it used. It is freakin flawless, from the feel to the sound to the build quality and the finish. I can be a harsh critic but there is seriously nothing I would change, and I expect that I probably won't play my others as much. Fender remains the king imho.

"I'm thrilled to have it"

It's huge. I love the way the strings go through the body to the back. The way the strings ring out and sustain vibrates through my whole body. The construction and finish is totally solid. It's a work of art. It's big and bulky, not a highly refined light-weight. That's the way I want my bass to be.The instrument is versitile for all genres and hard or soft playing styles. Slap it and pick it or finesse it softly- it's capable of making practically any kind of sound you've ever heard from a bass and then some...I'm a low-level talent, but I know about musical instruments and I have a discriminating ear. The sound of the bass is clear and bright. The control knobs and the active/passive switch are all easily useful and make meaningful changes to the tone. It arrived perfectly set up. There is no fret buzz or intonation problems. The tuning machines don't rattle. Everything works perfectly. Chances are, if you're reading this, you know what a Fender Jazz Bass is. There's not much else to say other than you will not be disappointed. It is everything I wanted and expected.

"Best bass guitar I have ever owned"

Not cheap, but this is no ordinary bass. It can play smooth and deep bass, growly and in-your-face bass, and everything in between. The skinny neck is great for people like me who have "sausage fingers". To top it off, it looks amazing. I have never enjoyed a bass guitar nearly as much as I do this one.

I got the champagne maple neck Elite Jazz Bass, It is an amazing monster of a bass! I play aggressively and very percussively slap bass. This bass has no dead spots and every single note up and down the neck rings out and sounds even in sound level.I bought another Elite from gear tree online and it was the most horrible Fender I ever bought, I’m sticking to zZounds, the Elites are now discontinued and replaced with the ultras, so grab whatever you can while you can.

I bought the 5 string version and now will be getting the 4 string version. I cannot recommended this instrument enough. The sound that comes out of this thing is inspiring. Just in passive mode the pups scream and in active mode they are Earth shacking. Fender has out done every one else with these. I am very happy with this bass and you will be too. If you mean business as a bass player then you need an American Fender like one of these. Nothing else comes close.

"Biggest disappointment EVER"

Purchased the first one, it arrived and the first thing I noticed was that the cord wouldn’t stay in the jack. Any movement at all and it would fall out. The second thing was it had a terrible hum whenever you turned the treble up hand the passive tone controls didn’t work at all. Third it sounded like there was always a Phase Shifter or Chorus pedal engaged. Went through the Zzounds RMA process which leaves much to be desired but after a week got a replacement. I’m thinking there’s no way possible this could happen twice right? WRONG! The replacement bass arrived and what’s the first thing I noticed? The cord would not stay in the jack! So I’m thinking hmm let’s check the sound out. What happens next? I turn the preamp on and ????? NOISE! Unbelievable! I get on the phone and call Fender and they say take it to Guitar Center for warranty repairs. I call Guitar Center and they say will take a month! Well I don’t have a month because I have gigs the next four weekends! Now I have to play a gig with a $2000 Active bass in passive mode and wait until I can find a way to get it repaired. Fender was really nonchalant about the whole thing too. I left Fender years ago and had stints with Sadowsky and Lakland. And never had these problems. After hearing all the reviews I thought Fender had finally overcome their quality issues of days past but I was wrong...REALLY WRONG!
