Been Playing guitar for a bit over 40 years but no pro by any means but I do enjoy playing.I've had them all over the decades. Stratocasters Telecasters Les Paul's Flying V's Iceman ect. Even a PRS 513 Rosewood. (Now THAT'S a guitar man!!) but never an off-set Fender. I wanted a true Jazzmaster not a cheap knockoff. So since it's my 60th Birthday I did the mature thing came to Zounds.com opened the page for the Vintera II 50's Jazzmaster closed my eyes and clicked the button to buy. I found it for less money on other websites. but I didn't want to dish out so much all at ounce. so Zounds it is! Cool thing is I found that the guitar had some issues when I opened it up and looked everywhere in it's bag. No tremolo arm to be found. So I called Zounds promptly and inquired about the arm. I mentioned I found it for less on top of no arm and they took money right off the price to match the price I found. So my payments per month lowered significantly. God is good man! Keep in mind they have a 45 day plan if you find the guitar for a lower price from their competition they will match it. On to the Guitar. It is a 50's Jazzmaster it will let you know what 60 cycle hum all all about asap! If the pickups height is not adjusted correct it will sound like an ice pick drilling in your head. Your buying a 50's spec Jazzmaster expect this. All can be adjusted or repaired. Fender does sell authentic brass plates and tubs to shield the electronics to make it even more authentic 50's. with the anodized gold pickguard this will make a complete Faraday Cage so hum should be almost completely gone. It's specs are right on for a 50's Jazzmaster and the pickups are about as close to real 50's as can be had. from the research I've done. The neck is very comfortable for me since I mainly play rhythm. To be purist I'm going to put nickle wound Stringjoys on it with a wound 'G'. So far after owning it for not even a week Not just because it's a new guitar I am very pleased over all with the Instrument Did want to mention the guitar was dusty under the strings no trem arm it seems as the guitar was used but I was assured by zounds it was new from the factory. Do with this info as you may but wanted an honest heads up. If your looking for a Jazzmaster this one is a very nice capable guitar that feel's comfortable and well built. best regard to everyone.
