I was never a BIG fender guy until I got this jawn. I definitely would prefer the player II over the ultra II due to pricing and the clarity of tone. I like that this bass comes with an active switch and not the S1 active passive button. When I tell you the clarity, growl, and bite is NOTICEABLE, this bass gets to talkin & comes alive when you dial it in. This bass sounds better than my last, & it was modded with EMG 40hz & Nordstrand preamp. Would HIGHLY recommend
