I've been looking for a solid well-rounded p-bass for a minute. This is a very capable offering from Fender that gives you that powerful P-Bass tone that you are looking for with a smooth roll-off from the Jazz Pickup. I would have opted for an always active passive tone cut instead up a Mid control, but you can get close enough with the Pass PU and Treble control. Everything on this bass is ready-to go and will both hold up well and deliver. I think $1,000 is fair for an instrument that needs nothing more than your choice of strings! There is a little inconsistency with the way the gloss looks over the headstock lettering, but this is a pretty small detail.
