Fender Duo-Sonic Electric Guitar (Maple Fingerboard)

No frills, all tone -- the Duo-Sonic's short scale makes it a breeze to play. The dual single-coils deliver bright tones that are perfect for jangly chords.

I thought cool this is a fun axe for grabbing and practicing. Then I plugged into my Mesa and was like "what?" This axe screams....sustain is incredible....the maple fretboard and shorter Scale is like a speed demon. Lots of different tones from stratesque to telecaster and in between. I have some serious axes and this little guy is so comfortable to play Palm muting is super easy with this smaller framed monster.

"Great backup guitar"

I needed a backup guitar for touring, and also single coils to combat the humbuckers in my '76 Gibson Marauder. I couldn't see dropping a load of cash due to the infatuation I have with my Gibson so this was a no-brainer (I plan on using it for 1-2 songs per set). First thing I noticed was the weight—or lack thereof. Extremely light. The short scale is perfect for the trashy speed rock and roll that we play, but also makes it easier to slide a little beyond the note you're aiming for. This will solve itself with practice and acclimation. The cleans are punchy and warm, despite the maple fingerboard. There is string buzz throughout the entire board due to stock low-action but does not come through amp. I'm running it through a Vox AC-15 and it's wonderful. I EQ the amp with higher bass/mids and dial back the treble. I was surprised with the beefiness via fuzz pedals and Blues Driver. This guitar is a delight to play and very inspirational for the writing process. I will still be purchasing a new Les Paul for a true backup, but this Duo Sonic is an adequate stopgap and a guitar I will definitely keep. The arctic white/mint green is sexy. Holds tune and light enough to put on an energetic performance without tiring too quickly. The action is extremely low, which I like, but others may detest. I will probably throw a railed humbucker in the bridge slot if I continue to fall for the playability of this intended "backup" guitar. A lot less "thin" sounding than I anticipated. Highly recommended as a backup, but would upgrade to an American Strat special if it were my main axe. Good work Fender and thanks a billion to zZounds for quickly shipping. Now the hunt for a tweed case that will fit it.

"Fender duo sonic maple fretboard."

This is a great little guitar I own several electrics and by far, this is the easiest to play the short scale is great for my small hands. Barre chords are easy and painless. Sounds good. The bridge pickup is twangy like a telecaster. Both pickups together make a smooth sound. My only complaint is sharp fret edges. My squier has better fretwork.
