Fuchs FBT-700 SVT-Style Bass Amplifier Head (700 Watts)

Inspired by classic SVT/B-15 bass amps, Andy Fuchs worked his wizardry on the FBT-700 to fit all that tube tone, feel, and raw power into a manageable size.

I just snagged this FBT-700 and could not be happier. Like many, I've been through so many amps over the years; from Blue/Black-Line SVT's, Acoustic, Sunn, Boogie Bass 400/400+, early Hartkes, , Marc Bass, Aguilar yada yada. I tend to lean toward more of a Boogie 400 sound for my style and have been playing the Subway D-800 for a couple years being very happy with it. That said, I've been itching for a tube-sound as of late but still didn't want to schlep a boat anchor. I tired a few class D's with tube pre's (I won't mention brands) and they all seem to fall short (for me). They just sounded...blah. Then, I played this Fuchs...It has all the stuff I've been wanting in a tiny footprint. A few reviews out there say it resembles a B-15 more than SVT and I hear where they are coming from but when you dial that sucker in it is SVT gorgeousness reborn! I highly recommend this rig.

At first I was not impressed. I have had some great head...uh...i mean heads. From Ampeg to SWR. It wasn't until I started playing with pre and post levels that I found it's strong suit. The EQ (particularly the semi-parametric mid) is powerful. And POWER is where it's at. It rattles everything in sight by 9:00. By noon it is what I would normally consider painful but the sound is so sweet the pain just isn't there. This thing with the right cab(s) will dominate everything around it. I am running an SWR Son of Bertha or two depending on the venue. I love 15s. Then again I am a big PJB fan and am blown away by the tone and output of this with 2 C4 cabs. Total f'ing velvet hammer. If you haven't, buy one. It you have buy another. This is a made in USA very high end amp. Mr Fuchs will undoubtedly raise the price as well they should. Best $1200 I've ever spent.
