so this is my 3rd wolfgang standard in less than a year. If i like a guitar, i want at least two. in this case i wanted the t.o.m version. if you don't mind not having a floyd, this is huge bang for buck. as i said in the northern lights review, these standards are almost as good as the specials. especially for the price. zZounds just ship guitars and do setups etc. Unfortunately these leave factory with qc issues. i won't nitpick here, but one needs to expect this. prs se guitars are the olny guitars that come from asia without issues. just my opinon. as far as these tom evh's, they are on par with the floyd versions and GREAT GUITARS!!! for 629, its alota guitar. but, there's room for upgrades. Bridge and tuners in paticular. pots seem fine, pickups are great. other than a few qc issues, i am very happy with purchase. and you can't beat zZounds!!!

"Finally, a TOM Wolfgang!"

I was delighted when EVH released the Wolfgang with a TOM bridge (I loathe the Floyd Rose).QC is good. No fret buzz or rough ends. The nut was properly cut, which is always nice. The build is typical for Cort's Indonesian factory. The tuners are decent. They hold a tune well but aren't very precise.I get better results by tuning further down before tuning up to pitch. The pickup selector switch is superior to the junk on the MIM Fenders (You don't have to flip it a few times to get where you're going).I read a review that said the volume pot didn't have much taper to it. I found exactly the opposite here. The bridge pickup is dynamic and versatile, whether cranked or clean. The neck pickup, however, gets a bit muddy when cranked.I bought the white model, and it's really pretty. The binding is actually a strip of unfinished wood.Overall, this guitar is VERY comfortable to play. It plays like a short-scale, but the neck is your standard 25.5" Fender neck.(King Edward designed the Wolfgang from the ground up, and, like me, he was a shrimp, so he designed a guitar for us fellow shrimps. Ha-ha!)I love the finish on the neck. It's really smooth, but...My only complaint with this guitar is that the baked maple neck is dark, and it's almost impossible to see the dot markers, especially on the side of the neck. I'm thinking about taking a Sharpie and making the side dots bigger.Overall, Edward's baby is an excellent guitar worthy of the name 'Van Halen,' but, honestly, it's overpriced. You're paying a premium for the name. The guitar doesn't come with a gig bag or case, but Gibson's soft case is a perfect match (I kept the small Styrofoam square that protected the pickup selector in transit that I put on the switch to protect it when I put it in the case).
