This is an old-school tube amp that has the best gain I've ever heard. It is incredibly loud, with all the balls a stack would have, and because of the Celestians, it sounds classic and gorgeous. But wait! It has a power leveler dial so you can sound like a stack at ONE WATT! Pretty cool.You should probably (definitely) grab a noise gate as well. Seriously, you turn this thing on and it sounds like my folk's old Zenith floor model TV lol...but the sound of that gain is worth the hassle of a little noise.I'm currently playing in a country/rock/southern rock band and cut my teeth on classic rock and 80's metal...this amp will handle all with ease.The best amp I've ever owned.RIP Eddie

I have the first EVH Combo Amp and used it at a 4 Th of July Gig - It really caused some fire works . It delivered on all 3 Channels and was loud enough for an out door Gig
