ESP LTD M-1000 Electric Guitar

The ESP M-1000 is a flame-maple-topped monster with a lightweight alder body, an extra-thin U-shaped neck, and Fishman pickups for plenty of bite and snarl.

"Amazing Guitar!"

After a lot of research I chose this beast of a guitar for several reasons. Looks aside (and it DOES look better in person), the features on this axe are top-shelf and hard to beat. The EMG 81 combo just scream, be it rhythm or leads. The Floyd is very stable and stayed in tune even after trying to make it go out ( I used this guitar at practice the other night, and intentionally tried to make it lose tuning with extreme bar antics and dives). The U shape neck-thru was ultimately the deciding factor. I'd had an F200 (bolt-on) and loved it so I figured the neck-thru would be even better....IT IS! This is one of the best playing necks I've ever played. It rivals my Jackson DKMG with it's quickness and feel. It's a very comfortable neck, and after 2 hours my fret hand felt no fatigue at all. Right out of the case (I ordered the Gator Universal along with it) it was ready to go; in-tune with perfect action...I didn't have to do anything at all to it. I run this amazing guitar through a Bugera 6262 half-stack; a Fender Roc Pro 700 and a Fender Frontman 15 and it sounds incredible through them all. After an hour at practice, I added my Line 6 Floor Pod Plus to the mix and every preset I used sounded powerful and clear. Distortion was nasty with the 81s, and cleans were bright and snappy. The fret height is spot-on, with no drag whatsoever; playing chords or soloing is effortless. I can't say enough how much I love this already, and I just received it Thursday (today is Saturday). The neck heel is sleek and make reaching the upper registry a breeze. This is definitely going to be a workhorse for me, and I'll most likely get another one soon (I have the see-thru black; if Zzounds offers another color, I'm on it!). For the features, playabilty and sound? There aren't too many that can compete with this. This neck on this guitar is better than my Schecter Syn Custom (also purchased from Zzounds). If you're a shredder like me, you'll absolutely love this Ltd!

"Comfortable and sexy with a roar of fury.."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I plan on keeping this for a very long time, I can't see myself being dissapointed with it. It definetly has a great tone for metal. The way I would describe it is "roaring, and dark". If you want a guitar with a simple design that is straight to the point with great features and great playabilty, I would choose this. It's just so smooth! Check it out!
Sound
I am in love with the dark tone this guitar gives me when plugged into my Peavey 6505+ 112 combo. It really is one of the best metal tones I've heard. The EMG'S combined with the alder body make this guitar what it is. One thing I've noticed with a lot of EMG pickups is that there is this "sparkle" in the tone, which I like. Its hard to explain, you just have to take a listen for yourself. You can get warm cleans as well, but you have to roll back the tone knob a tad as well as the volume knob while on the neck pickup to achieve this.
Features
The things I admire most on this guitar is the set-though neck which alows excellent upper fret access and note sustain, the Floyd Rose which is the 1000 series, which is very similar to the original Floyd Rose (best one you can buy). Also, I think the wood it's made of suits it well.
Ease of Use
It is very well balanced and comfortable, that is probably what I like most about this guitar. It just feels right in your hands, not too heavy or light. When I'm trying out guitars, the number one thing that I need to have is comfortablity and this definetly has it.
Quality
I haven't experienced any flaws at all. It is pristine.
Value
I got a great deal on mine, I bought it for $650. I think the price is reasonable, but it shouldn't pass the $1,000 mark.
Manufacturer Support
I bought mine used, so I never delt with a company directly but my friend who I bought it from didn't have any problems.
The Wow Factor
The one I have is snow white, and it is definetly a looker. It has a very simple design, but its so desirable.. At least to me. Some people may not like the abolone binding, but I think it makes it look unique. I really like the reverse headstock as well.

Ordered this guitar just because I always wanted one. It is a beautiful guitar until you start getting close. I didn't realize it but my tech pointed out the tuners not being aligned and some spots where they had buffed through the clear coat. To me not a huge deal, but when your paying over a $1000.00 for guitar you want it to be perfect right? But on the flip side, I never called in to see if they could do anything about it. It plays great and I love the feel. The neck through design is the only way to go for sustain. All in all, great guitar, just a bit of lazy/shady workmanship. They could have done a little better.....
