Bought the JR-608 and it has been a showstopper. Looks: Guitar body has an excellent finish without any noticeable blemishes. The “blue” sunburst pattern comes across more as a grey sunburst that really pops with the gold tuning heads and volume knobs. I have received lots of comments on FB on how cool the guitar looks. Guitar was constructed well without any noticeable issues with fret buzzing, finish, or pickups. Sound- I play this plugged into a Boss Gt-100 and the guitar has been able to perform in a variety of playstyles. To me, it is better suited for cleaner tones, fingerstyle, and jazz. It has excellent sustain. As typical with 8 strings, the bottom two strings can muddy the sound if they are accidentally hit while playing on the upper 6 strings. As for people looking to play metal, I found the tone to be best with songs that utilize more of the 7th B string rather than the 8th F# string. The guitar can djent, but you have to be really careful with your tone settings because the bottom 8th string can sound muddy if your tone settings arent adequate. Overall, for my first 8 string, this has been a quality purchase that I have not regretted. The playability of the guitar makes it very easy to transition to 8 strings. This guitar is for people who want to do everything that their six string can, but add extra warmth and range, ability to djent, and stellar looks to their lineup.
