I received my Hummingbird and unboxed today. Tuned right up to concert pitch and played for about an hour. This is a wonderful instrument and I am sure as it breaks in it will improve with age. I feel lucky as this fretboard is very dark. You really can’t tell it from rosewood. Bridge is the same. Fit, finish and grains are all superb. This is truly a bargain at $850!

Ok let me first say that I have been playing guitar since 1964. I have so many guitars since then I can't even remember them.In my experience Epiphone guitars have always been a solid platform for someone who is first starting and novice and intermediate level players. After reading about these " Inspired By Gibson" series Masterbilt guitars I thought I'd give one a try to see how close to a real Hummingbird it is.It caught me off guard. The fit and finish is outstanding. The playability was absolutely perfect out of the box.The original 1960's Headstock makes it look really nice. Not that deeply scalloped extended swelled at the top one usually find on an Epiphone. Nice touch Epiphone !The tulip Keystone vintage tuners are excellent. Smooth and tight. Fret work was amazing for a guitar in this price point as well as getting a guitar with beautiful solid mahogany and Sitka spruce that is finished in an accurate vintage toner. The real Mother of Pearl inlays are a really nice touch. At this price point getting an instrument with a one piece mahogany neck with no seperate heel is almost unheard of. I am tempted to say this Epiphone is so close to the Gibson model it amazed me that Gibson would allow Epiphone to produce something this close to their high dollar Hummingbird. In conclusion.... BUY IT !! You will not be sorry. zZounds is the best out there for sales, service and amazing one day delivery.

You are spot on. I have owned a Gibson Dove and a Songwriter. Both excellent guitars BUT as you said there becomes a bond between the player and the instrument that has no real words to explain. Every serious player will find this out over time. Does it matter what name is on the headstock? Not always. I have a special bond with my Epiphone " Inspired by Gibson" Hummingbird and it is my main acoustic for stage and studio and songwriting. I have other much more expensive acoustic guitars but this is my musical soulmate. My "go to" everyday guitar. I have absolutely no regrets and nothing but praise for this instrument. As it gets older it will only get even sweeter. If your looking at this instrument don't be afraid to try it out. zZounds has a great return policy if by some odd chance it's not for you in particular.

I bought this , I am just learning to play. I also own a Gibson G45, two inspired by Gibson, J 45/additions, both color, and I also bought master built frontier. No I did upgrade to the 45s. I added nut bone saddle and pins and I made a different. They all sound great , but the humming bird is such a joy to play, and learn on. It sounds amazing. Epiphone did a great job with all there inspired by Gibson.

I've played the Gibson Hummingbirds in music stores for a long time. Always loved the playability, how it felt, and the look. Epiphone made it affordable to me; My dream come true. This guitar is just as nice. I don't see the difference. Sweet!

First things first, zZounds was a great company to work with. My guitar arrived on time with not a scratch. I love the no interest, low payment plans which makes buying so more affordable and budget friendly. As the guitar itself, what can I say? I. Am. In. Love. It plays so well and sounds great plugged in. I inherited my grandfather's 1947 J-45 Gibson and the Epiphone is easier to play to sounds even better than my vintage Gibson. The design and look is incredible as well. I am so incredibly happy I made this purchase. I know the headstock doesn't say GIbson, but don't let that stop you from purchasing an affordable guitar that plays like a dream.

I was on the fence with this guitar. I have played a Gibson, own a Martin D35 and a Taylor 200 series. I really wanted a Hummingbird but wasn't wanting to spend 3,500 for one. After watching almost every video on YouTube and reading several reviews I decided to just try it. I've never purchased a guitar online but zZounds has a great return policy so I figured I had nothing to loose. I can say with no hesitation this is an amazing guitar. It sounded great right out of the box.and for the last month I can't put it down. I haven't played a gig or jam session with her yet, but I'm sure she's gonna do fine. The guitar itself looks amazing (opted for the cherry sunburst) and it looks great in my living room. The only thing I suggest is you buy a case for it. I wish it came with one but at the price point of the guitar I can understand why. Bottom line...it's a great guitar and if you want a quality instrument at a great price this is your guitar. Just do it, I'm so glad I did.

I have been on the fence for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. Probably should have done it a long time ago. Got and finish is great, set up is great, and it was less than a half step out of time coming right out of the box. I haven't tried plugging it in.... probably won't. The finish looks better in person than it does in the pictures.

I too have been playing for more than 50 years. I've played with great bands and have done hours of studio, again with some well known bands. The one thing I've learned in all my years in music is that everyone regardless of experience or ability has their own relationship with their guitar I know I do. People ask me what I'm saying when I'm on stage and I have to tell them that I'm talking to my axe. I have the Hummingbird by Epiphone and it's all that is written about it but remember it's what you want and make it do. Just talk to her and I promise she will respond. Good luck and enjoy.
