I am very very happy with this guitar. It is not a perfect instrument, but for the price, you can't really get a better semi hollow, and with the 339 body, its almost impossible to find a sub $500 model. Was really happy with the specs that Epiphone has upgraded to, the grover tuners and graphtech nut really help sell the package, (i hate switching out sub-par parts). The paint job on the F holes was a little lacking but I was able to touch up with a paint marker and the plywood top was sanded a little to much in some places, revealing the ply, but I really can't complain. the stock pickups sound great and while setting the instrument up, I was very impressed at how solidly put together it is and how well it plays. Great fret work, usually the frets are lacking on a guitar in this price range. It would be great to see a deluxe model for the 339 with some more cosmetic upgrades and pickups but this instrument is a steal, get it now!

A lot hear for the money. A fret polish with 400 thru 2000 grit erasers make for much smother bends. Raise the tail piece, install some Ernie Ball super slinky’s, set intonation, adjust the bridge/truss rod to minimize buzz and the guitar plays great. Is has hot pickups and you get a good range of control from the electronics. The sound is like a Les Paul with more shimmer and sustain. Other than the paint on the inside edges of the f holes, the fit and finish is excellent. Again a lot here for the money. I have top of the line Les Pauls and Tele’s. This guitar will be invite to some gigs!

Longtime user / fan of Epiphone - original->Korean/Japanese->only Korea (Samick)->China, who uses C&C technology so it’s good within 1,000’s of a MM so what’s it matter anymore- but this new (5 models only?) Inspired by Gibson line is wow. Just wow. Had the Gibson 339 before- seriously hard to tell the difference. I suspect the price will soon reflect the amazing quality so buy it! Seriously - play it or keep it for an investment but buy it - while you can- and buy it from zZounds because you know it’s gonna be right.
Sound
Good sound unplugged- just like every other semi-hollow, but plug it in & let those hummers sing & ok - you playing blues? Ok. Rock? Ok. Country? Yep. Any issue with the frets before are gone. Sounds exactly what it’s supposed to sound like. If you’re really looking for a great semi-hollow you know exactly what I mean.

Musical Background:

Lifetime player/writer/player Rock->country rock->rocking country->Yep all of it.

Musical Style:

Rock->country rock->rocking country->Yep all of it.

The pick ups alone make this a great buy. Very nice harm. Hamburger sound with just enough bit on the bridge. Fret board is nice but dry when I got it, easy fix. The finish is flawless as is fret work. The grocer tuners are a nice addition. The action was spot on. I started playing in 1965 so many guitars have come and gone and this 339 is a keeper.

The humbucker sounds from this 339 are super warm and punchy. It may be the best sound of all the guitars I have played in my 60 years of playing. The pots work as they should and the fret board is nice once I treated it with linseed oil. It's not perfect because the fret ends could be smoother and I prefer a satin finish on the neck. But that said, you buy a guitar to make music and this thing really sings.

These pickups are some of the best I have played. The guitar overall is very nice and not like a budget guitar at all. The neck needed some lubrication out of the box and I set it up to my liking. Fret work is good and playable, but I have seen better. I don't like a gloss finish on the neck but it is not sticky and feels fine. The tones go from smooth jazz to a nice bark on the bridge pickup, all pots work as they should. My more expensive guitars will have to wait for awhile.

Blues

We all buy a guitar for the sound and the EPI 339 could not sound better. Warm jazz on the neck pickup and a nice bite on the bridge that really cuts through without sounding harsh. The overall construction is good and the neck plays very nice. Grover tuners are always a nice addition. I play Blues and the 339 fits the bill nicely. Take it from an old guy, check it out.

The sound OMG these pickups sound great! Nice and jazzy in the neck and a nice bit in the bridge. Pots work as they should which is not always the case with a guitar in this price range. Fret board needed oiling and the strings and pickups needed adjustment. There was no fret buzz so it plays great. I would have liked a satin finish on the neck but the neck is not sticky. the frets could use some polish, but for now it's OK. I have been playing guitar since the '60's and now my more expensive guitars are getting lonesome.
