it is not actually going to be a review, it's going to be short and sweet. this guitar is just a must-have for, that kind of money you have an excellent quality very beautiful looking and well playing guitar. The pickups are nice and fat sounding if you want them to be. The finish and craftsmanship is excellent. I would change the strings out soon as you can as usual factory strings are pretty much garbage.

This is a great guitar. The weight relief makes it ultra comfortable and the neck profile is great. Not too thick like my Bonamassa LP. Pickups sound great and blending the middle one in with the bridge gives a great thick sound. Neck pickup gets thick and nasty if you want it, but you can tame it with the middle pickup blend. Fit and finish is first rate and beautiful to look at. Check these out before they are long gone. Well worth the $ and zZounds service was great

"Great guitar"

I had my eye on this for quite awhile, ever since the product launch. I bought this 3 months ago and wanted to wait to write a review. I almost pulled the trigger on the one that came with the certificate signed by Peter Frampton, but I changed my mind, probably should have done it, but it’s really the same guitar.. I watched a few YouTube reviews, but those weren’t very helpful at all. Finally I figured I’d better grab one before they were gone. Plus the price had dropped. When I got it I checked it ever for flaws and defects. The strings were changed to a set of Elixr 10’s and I set the action. Plugged it into a Line 6 30 watt amp, sounded okay, but then I plugged into my Marshall Origin 20 head. That’s where the guitar came alive.
Ease of Use
If you didn’t know the middle pickup is always on, but you can turn it down, it has its own volume and tone control. This gives you a lot fore flexibility in getting your sound. It also gives a nice boost to the bridge pickup, you can set the volume to just below the bridge or neck pickups, or turn them down and just use the middle pickup. Through a tube amp this guitar really shines.
Quality
I didn’t try the included strap locks that came with the guitar, they just didn’t look up to the task. Overall the guitar is very good, it’s not as hot as my Gibson Les Paul Classic, but it was $1,100.00 less. I think that it’s a great guitar, ebony fretboard, nice hardware and excellent fit and finish. If you’re waiting like I did, how’s the time to buy.

"Tremendous Purchase"

New out of the box and it played perfectly. I cannot find anything wrong with it at all - does need better strings but I would change them anyways. Due to the construction technique the guitar is also pleasantly loud to strum on without an amp. Nut is set perfectly, Intonation is spot on. The 3 pickup configuration's wiring is really a game changer for Tone

"My little piece of history"

This my 5th guitar from zZounds, my 11th Epi L.P. since 2006 - they truly get better and better. My second "artist" model (first being 2018 Slash Anaconda-burst, which was SUPERB!) - this Frampton was a must-have, if for nothing else other than it namesake's significance. I saw the Alive35 tour in 2012, and saw the legend in action! Also my first chambered-body Les Paul. What a STARK difference from my full-bodied 50s Standard GoldTop Gibson; this thing is LIGHT - doubt if it even cracks 8lbs. My guess is around 7#/14-15oz. But I don't mind - it's quick as a result, the Phenix neck (that nobody seems to be able to adequately describe) is what I term a lazy "C" - but feels surprisingly good, and a HELLUVA LOT better than those dreadful SlimTapers. With the pickup & wiring system - tones are totally unique to this guitar compared to say - an Epi Standard Pro. I totally love the guitar, aside from being a Frampton. If any of this sounds appealing to you, I'd step up and snag one while you you can, as zZounds seems to have the only stock left of this limited offering of 900 (non-outfit). And like just about every Epi - it needs a good setup job & different strings.

"Not Just GORGEOUS, it's VERSATILE"

Like many other budding guitarists in the mid to late 70's, I couldn't escape the sonic impact of Peter Frampton and his Les Paul "coming alive".But let's put sentiment aside.Remove Peter's facsimile signature from the back of the headstock and you have a seriously versatile guitar that sounds great too. (...they don't look too bad, either.)If you're vascillating between this and the cheaper Epi Black Beauty, I would beg you to go the extra monetary distance and get this model. In addition to pickups of superior sonic design and performance (two Alnico II Probuckers and a Ceramic Pro vs Alnico Classics), the wiring configuration of this model offers seven different pickup settings. The Black Beauty offers just three. (With the "BB" you have no independent control of the middle pickup. You can't even adjust it against the bridge pickup in the only setting that features the middle pickup. They share the same pot. HUH? WHY?!)The "PF" has two fiesty Alnico II pickups, and a ceramic pup in the bridge, while the "BB" has three relatively bland Alnico V's. (The original "PAF" Les Paul humbuckers were Alnico II.)This model features a full thickness maple top so it can really sing when pushed. (The "BB" has a maple veneer over a mahogany top.) {It should be mentioned that Peter's Les Paul was a 1954 model, the debut year of the LP Custom which, as everyone knows, had a mahogany top. Not maple. Oh well...}The "modern weight relief" makes this guitar a lighter and more manageable specimen. (The "BB"... think "anvil".)When strummed sans amplifier the Frampton model sustains great and is very resonant. The "BB" sustains nicely but it doesn't really ring as brightly as the "PF".The ebony fretboard is delightfully smooth while the "BB" now features pau ferro which makes a fine fretboard but is considerably lighter in color and doesn't really compliment the gloss black finish. Both guitars feature slender neck profiles though. I prefer the "PF" as it's not quite as wide. Both have Grover Tuners. The only aspect where the "BB" rated higher was the dressing of the frets. The edges on the "PF" are rather sharp while the "BB" was as smooth as any Gibson.I bought this off zZound's "scratch and dent" list so I expected some scuffs and scratches - there weren't many; one scuff and some miniscule scratches on the back. That's typical of zZounds, I've scored some great gear that was "scratch and dent" or "blemished".SUMMARY: This is an awesome guitar so get one while you can. I had to subtract half a star for rough fretboard edges but the rest of the categories are well earned 5's.A final note: Thanks to "Conner" with Customer Service. The guitar had a damaged pickup selector switch. Conner quickly managed to handle the matter in a way that easily resolved the problem.

"Postscript to My Previous Review"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

In my previous review I gave a detailed list of the differences between the Frampton LP Custom and the "Black Beauty" but neglected to mention that I had owned a 2018 model "BB".It was an amazingly beautiful instrument but it just sounded flat.I considered changing the pups and correcting the senseless wiring configuration but in the end sold it and bought the Frampton model.Also...While chasing a grounding issue I noticed that the body cavity is seriously hollow; "weight relief". This allows the solid maple top to resonate on both sides. (This may explain the bright ringing tone when strummed "unplugged".)This is a great guitar and well worth the price.(And I hate to brag but the serial number on this guitar identifies it as having been made in July of 2018. The guitar was announced on September 4th of 2018 so mine is likely one of the first models completed. That I got an EPIC deal from zZounds when I found this on their "scratch and dent" list only makes this sweeter.)
