Great looks. Great playability. Great sound, even unplugged. This is my 3rd Epiphone and 2nd Masterbuilt. I highly recommend Epiphone acoustic/electric guitars.

Musical Background:

I have been playing guitar and songwriting since 1973. My latest CD " Altar Call" is available through CDbaby.

"Great Guitar at a Great Price"

This is a high quality instrument at a reasonable price point. Solid wood back and sides, solid cedar top, Grover tuners, two pickups with on-board controls, onboard tuner, banding around the body, nice inlays, deep cutaway style, beautiful setup . . . This guitar has it all for well under $1,000. Right out of the box, you will have a very playable guitar with a rich, mellow sound. I upgraded to a brighter set of strings, which I felt was needed with the cedar top. I love the sound, and play it unplugged for a regular gig. I bought one that was on sale due to "scratch and dent" status. This made me a bit nervous, but a big shout-out to zZounds for selling a beautiful instrument with minor flaws at a great price. I would definitely do business with these folks again!

"Epiphone Masterbilt!"

I bought one in 2016 and one in 2017. Another guy wrote that bridge pulled up around edges. Mine did as well. I paid to have it reglued because that shop did not honor Gibson/Epiphone warranty work. I would buy a third?...Yes! no doubt. The volume is subdued but the dynamics, overtones, and evenness of volume across each string, good strings? well makes up for overall guitar volume. I've searched for correct size hard cases for the EF500RCCE and no luck for me, yet...I bought two world tour gig bags, will pursue hard cases still. This guitar is all solid wood, temperamental and needs balanced humidity. It is worthy of a player having three!!!...And Thx to zZounds for top shelf service in all departments, questions answered, problems solved!

"Excellence with no peers"

It has a long name Masterbuilt EF 500R CCE by Epiphone and it doesn't come with a case for some weird reason but those two things are the only negative. Everyone that has bought one of these has a guitar that has no peers and even the high dollar Taylors are no better. Buy this guitar and do not hesitate that funny looking thing on the truss rod cover is Plekd and it means these guitars are put on a German machine to assure they are set up perfectly for playing The case that fits it is the Epiphone PR5

I had to return the first one because the bridge was splitting from the top around the edge. Other than that I have nothing bad to say about it. The second guitar was sent out to me as soon as I dropped off the return at local ups store. This guitar can stand up to ones that cost two or three times more. While it's not the loudest cutaway unplugged but the sound caracter more than makes up for it. If you like Al di Meola's acoustic sound, try this one. Ceder and rosewood on this guitar is a match made in haven. This really is a sweet sweet sounding guitar unplugged or plugged.
