Bought this SG abount 2 months ago. Very nice playing & sounding SG. Especially for the money. Lowered the action after installing Daddario strings(my favorite). I plan on keeping this guitar for a long time. Great purchase.

Initially i was a bit disappointed. Even tho it looked great it needed bunch work and was near unplayable out the box. Didn’t want to spend a $125 on a guitar tech like the last guy. So a few Youtube videos and a bit of swearing later i got it in good working order. (only thing I used was bicycle multi tool) Adjusted everything + oiled the fretboard twice because it was so dry. Pickups are just plain rude. Respond well to dynamics but really they just want to rip. Definitely a rock and roll guitar. Maybe not so great for Jazz (the SG custom is preferable for that another great Epi). Like any decent SG it’s a player, sits perfectly on the lap etc, and this one weighs just 6.4 lbs my scale. Thanks zZounds for your excellent service yet again.

"Nice budget Reissue SG by Epiphone without costing you $950 or $2000"

Its been awhile since I'd last post a review of these mid priced Epiphone Reissue SGs but after having some minor quality control issues on the upper ended 1961 Les Paul SG version of these Epiphone Reissue SGs I'd figure I'd give these mid priced Reissue SG another try and like the last two mid priced Reissues I'd got from zZounds blemished a awhile back when they were new I'd was not disappointed like I was with the then $850 Custom Shop Reissue Les Paul SG that came out over a year ago I'd bought new. This one has no quailty control issues and no faulty parts like the last three Epiphone Custom Shop SGs I got both here and from Sweetwater a year ago and the last Epiphone SG Custom (the black one with two pickups gold hardware and an ebony fretboard) I'd bought back in March of this year that had faulty parts. These mid priced Epiphones within the $400 to $600 price range I find to be better made than the overpriced Epiphone Custom Shop guitars that are now floating around the internet for 500 to 700 price. I'd the custom shops were better made than the mass produced ones but beggars can't be choosy. I'd got the nice Vintage Glossy Cherry Red finish because one I like it better than that ugly Pelham blue version and two I'm Definitely Not A UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heel fan. Overall the pickups sound good through a Pignose battery powered amp and I do also own an older Marshall Valve State 50 watt hybrid combo made in the UK back the 90's but that being repaired as we speak and I'll post a review of what this SG sounds through a Valve State when the repair bill gets paid in July of this year and it gets back in my possession. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and I would like to buy the upper ended 1961 Epiphone Les Paul SG when I'd get my orders with zZounds caught up and if its in good condition with no quality control issues involved.
Sound
Its a early PAF humbucking tone like Eric Clapton Woman tone, Hendrix on an SG Electric Church goer tone or Tony Iommi SG with humbuckers or an Angus Young tone
Features
Well made with good mid to upper ended Chinese parts and labor. Nothing wrong with this guitar unlike the last Epiphone Custom Shops I've bought previously within the past year
Ease of Use
Very fun to play on and a good Blues or Blues Rock or early Metal players guitar on budget
Quality
Well made with faulty parts
Value
Better made than some of the $950 - $1000 Custom they make and much better than the Equally overpriced Squier by Fender and Import Fender Electrics that are in this same price range.
Manufacturer Support
Easy to get a hold of when you do have questions about their products or potential products they'd might be issuing out in the future or past products they'd may be reissuing out within the near future.

First Epiphone electric...Very impressive value for such a solid, and beautiful guitar. Build and quality are as good as my PRS SEs but at almost half the price.Although it sounds wonderful unplugged, a lot of clarity and sustain, it comes to life once plugged into an amp.And the Pelham Blue is spectacular--it's hard to make out in the photos but it's a Pelham Blue Flake.

I grabbed the blem that was available which I was able to afford with my budget, and other than the scratched-up pickguard it's awesome! I determined mine to weigh 7 pounds which is in the range of how much these things supposedly should weigh. I will just put a sticker on the scratched-up pickguard and then I'll be in business! Speaking of sticker, even though it was a blem, zZounds still threw in the bumper sticker that Epiphone gives you which is nice. :D

This guitar beats the Gibson sg standard I bought two months ago from this same place. No loose input jack the neck is perfect and not cracked and there are no blemishes on the finish. As for the sound the probuckers sounds like something Eric Clapton or Hendrix on an sg puts up with. I am keeping this guitar and probably will it to my niece

After struggling over which guitar would best suit my future playing ability, the 61 Epiphone SG won out over the Epiphone Les Paul standard. For about 6 months I bounced back and forth between the LP and the SG taking in all the reviews and availability, most of the LP's that Iliked were on back order and I could not hold out any longer.I I purchased the SG. right out of the box the SG was a powerhouse. After a slight tweek to the truss rod and a new set of Gibson Brite-Wire 10's it has been nothing but a true joy playing this axe, I would definately recond this guitar to anyone. I love it!

Awesome as i hoped, the SG is the best electric guitar Gibson ever produced ( My opinion ). Heard the newer Epiphones had gotten better and here is solid proof!!Only difference than a Gibson is what name is on the head stock.

Bought a 61 reissue Epiphone SG. I have played guitar for over 50 years. They have treated me excellent! The frets were sharp on the edges. They were willing, kind, and caring from every angle. Return it, offered a generous compensation, trade it. I feel great about the entire transaction. THANK YOU ZZOUNDS! The guitar shipment was also late. They reach out with a gift certificate. Don't want to take advantage of this--but what a response to 3 issues!!

"Good Overall Value"

The guitar arrived with some slight finish issues around the nut, but that's unsurprising at this price point. The neck had a backward bow, but that comes with shipping sometimes. The frets would grind under the strings, and the craziest thing was, the F note on the first fret on the high E was dead. However, I really liked the way the neck played, so I took it to my local tech for a setup. Turns out the first few frets were about 6mm lower than the rest of the fretboard. He had to level the fretboard but now the thing plays like a dream. Besides, $449 plus $125 at the guitar tech and you're still at a fraction of what the Gibson version costs. I'd definitely recommend the guitar but be prepared to work on it a bit straight out of the box. Plan on having a pro set it up for you and this thing is a steal.

I ordered one last saturday at 6:15PM. It showed up at my house FedEx on sunday at noon. I ordered a case too, and that came in a separate box delivered right beside the guitar. Its flawless, perfect setup out of the box. It was even in tune, the harmonics are perfect. When you play it, it vibrates up the neck. Lots of sustain. It feels like a Gibson. This one was made in Feb '22. I can't believe how Epiphone stepped up their game in the last couple of years. I'll never get rid of it.

All is good except for the position of the toggle switch and volume/tone pots. They are a bit south of the Gibson spec. Not as accessible. Seems like that doesn’t have to be.

First of all zZounds is amazing. How they can ship an order to you in so little time boggles the mind. Everything was carefully packed and arrived in good order. Customer service on the phone was excellent. Now let's get to the Epiphone 61 SG in pelham blue. It was very playable right out of the box, but needs a little attention in the setup. Nothing major and nothing I can't take care of myself. The finish is pretty much flawless. I was very happy with the pro bucker pickups, they were very clear and notes were well defined. I have no doubt but this will become one of my favorite guitars. Epiphone seems to live up to all of the positive remarks I have read. Thank you again zZounds for another positive experience.
