Bought it based on looks alone. I didn't realize it was a new model. I've had a couple sc p90 epi specials and that was gonna be my next purchase until I saw this. I didn't have any humbucker guitars and have been needing one. It arrived and I immediately top wrapped it with 8's. Almost too slinky at first but I quickly got used to it. Set up was unplayable out of the box. Bridge and tailpiece were way too high but nothing to complain about because I was gonna top wrap it anyways. Frets are gonna need a little attention eventually. I'll wait until the wood aclimates to southern Arizonas lack of humidity all the way so I don't have to do it twice. It is already my #1 after just playing it for a few minutes.( Over a Duojet w/p90's, a Mim Strat and a Mim Tele). I'm always very impressed with Epiphones. Have had some stolen and foolishly sold some. Eventually I'll put in lollar imperials but it really doesn't need them. I also considered a prs se McCarty single cut but I just can't handle the birds. I see no reason to spend anymore on anything else as good as this is.

I buy guitars. I have 18 last count. In my harem I have several Epiphones. They have always been some of the better players and sound fairly good. I seen this one for sale and I had just bought the TV Yellow P 90 model an thought hey why not have another in that style. Man was I surprised. This one plays as well if not better then the P90 model. I had to set it up, it came in awful setup form, high action and intonation was whacked across the all strings. 2 hrs and I had it set up perfect. The action is very close and there are no buzz any where along the whole fretboard. Great fret job Epiphone. Pickups sound sweet, vintage for sure. And I can say that with experience because I have been playing for 56 years. I well remember the sound some of the old Gibson/ Fenders had and these Pro Buckers have a similar sound as vintage Gibsons I've played an heard. Then to top it all off the looks are just stunning. The flame top is gorgeous surrounded by binding. And I have to mention the Grover tuners, they are like silk. Real responsive tuners that feel almost other worldly smooth. This axe aces every aspect of what a player wants from a guitar. Sound, playability, looks and a price that is hard to imagine for a guitar this good

I decided to add this guitar to my collection and rolled the dice! It came up snake eyes! In all of my years, this is the first guitar that I have ever sent back for a refund! ZZOUNDS was prompt in crediting my account which I appreciated! I have bought many guitars, amps and Helix from zZOUNDS in the past.The reasons why I sent back the guitar:1. HORRIBLE NECK DIVE when standing!!!! Very distracting trying to keep the guitar in position while playing! Why fight to play a guitar?!2. Frets are very thin!! Not jumbo as advertised! Hard to bend strings and be expressive!3. Very uncomfortable to play sitting or standing due to the boxy, non-ergonomic shape! No belly cut or rounded edges!4. No coil split/coil tap for the humbuckers!5. Tone was lackluster and very thin at best!Don’t believe all of the glowing reviews you that read! BUYER BEWARE of the Gibson Inspired Les Paul Double Cut guitar!
