"There were a few problems up front, but Zzounds got it sorted and a little setup work, it rocks."

I've been aching to write a review but needed some time with this guitar to feel it out. We'll start with the first one that arrived. There was a huge crack in the neck. zZounds got me a return label that day. It went back and they shipped my replacement. Two days later it arrived and the guitar was pristine...mostly. The nut was awful. I had to replace it. The slots were cut so poorly that the high e rolled right off the fret board. The nut was about a 1/16th off and it was an eyesore. After a new tusq nut, a very needed fret polish, a few rough fret ends to be addressed, and a solid setup, this Les Paul is the essence of awesome. The p90s are so responsive. Feather them and they chime, dig in and they BITE. Put this through a AC15 with a little overdrive and welcome to late 90s early 00s Foo fighters. Dial back the tone knobs a bit on both pickups. Push into a silverface with a little bit of hair on it, and this is a blues machine. This thing weighs terribly close to my Gibson Les Paul standard 50s and the neck profile is very close. If you have a Les Paul (Gibson owners, here's one that will hold up. Trust me. I am one!), want another one but you want something different, jump on this one. They won't be around very long. The finish is out of this world and then some. Usually Epiphone bursts don't do it for me. The veneer just doesn't cut it. This finish sparkles in the light and absolutely stuns. I can't put this guitar down. zZounds customer service is a 10/10. There's a reason we all keep coming back.

I was very skeptical about this guitar until I pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. The look and quality is top notch. It feels very well made but one thing that stood out is how the switch was not loose. It clicks into each position. Most switches seem loose. This one was very tight. I think the QA was outstanding on this guitar.I’m not a fan of but respect Joe Boonomassa. I don’t listen to his music but love to hear him talk about guitars. I plugged in the guitar and absolutely love the articulate well rounded tone of the pickups. I couldn’t put the guitar down. The bridge position touched on some country tones at louder levels where the amp was almost breaking up. The middle position sounded very well balanced of clean with bottom. The neck position was very full sounding with clarity. I will certainly record and play with this guitar quite a bit. This is a special guitar and Epiphone got it right with this model. It’s a great value and unique looking with its color. I purchased the Epiphone Joe Bonamassa 1955 Les Paul right here on zZounds.com
