I just received my new SG a few days ago and I'm impressed. The upgrades that Epiphone has made here persuaded me to try it out and I'm glad I did. I'm normally not a big fan of the Probucker pickups, but in this thinner, lighter body they really opened up. To me, they sound better than the 490R/490T that Gibson uses in their SG Standard. They're brighter and clearer sounding, without being harsh. The neck profile is listed here as "Slim Taper", but it feels beefier, with a bit more shoulder. And the addition of Grover tuners is always welcome, they're holding tight. The fit & finish on my Silver Mist SG scores an A+ too, not a blemish in sight. Nicely done fretwork and a well-cut nut are all here. The only thing I needed to do was lower the action a hair and put on my favorite strings. I suppose the only real surprise here is the absence of Neck Dive, finally, a well balanced SG.I'm normally a Les Paul player, and have been for 30 years, but sometimes you just can't beat cranking out big hairy riffs on an SG. (Kyuss, Sabbath, Clutch etc...) The included gig bag is OK, nothing fancy, but it'll keep the dust off.So, a well built, great looking and great sounding SG for $600 was a no brainer to me, I'm glad I bought it.
