Unless the other SG’s like this are not up to par with mine, I can’t imagine how anyone could find fault with it. My Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG is practically perfect! I’ve had it now for over a month and I have found absolutely nothing to complain about. It’s built extremely well in and sounds awesome. It makes me play better. I started playing guitar in the early 70’s and I played and owned nothing but Gibson Les Paul’s for many, many years. This SG reminds me of my L P’s. I moved the neck position strap button to the upper horn tip and it transformed this instrument as far as playability goes. It plays wonderful and sounds awesome. Nothing more I can really add.

I’ve made a good living playing guitar for many years.

"Epiphone SG"

I cannot brag about this guitar and zZounds enough. I ordered this guitar and when I received it I had to return it due to it's condition. Immediately zZounds sends me a new one! No problems whatsoever! Everything was done through texting so I never even had to speak with anyone! On top of that I honestly don't think there is a nicer guitar anywhere than this SG! I purchased the red one and I am now planning on purchasing the white one from zZounds as soon as I get a few of my other guitars paid off that I have ordered through them. Great Company! Great Guitar!
Sound
The pickups in this guitar are amazing! I bought the Epiphone '61 SG and the Tony Iommi Epiphone SG from zZounds. All fantastic guitars but the sound of this SG is dirtier and more growly when you want it to be!
Features
The neck on this guitar is the perfect width and smoother than silk!
Ease of Use
The moment you plug this guitar in it's ready to go! Crystal clean and so nice and clear. But, beneath the hood it's ready and willing to absolutely take off and rock the house!
Quality
It appears to be made as solid as a rock! And again, the neck is absolutely perfect!
Value
This guitar seems a little expensive for an Epiphone but I guarantee once you have it in your hands you'll understand that it's worth at the what it's asking price is and in my opinion it's worth quite a bit more! It's as good as any Gibson SG you'll ever own! Probably better by far!
Manufacturer Support
I had to contact zZounds about the first guitar they sent to me. I had to return it but they immediately sent me a replacement which is the one I have now! They have been such a great company to work with that I'm not getting any of my music equipment from anyone but zZounds!!!

Musical Background:

I've played guitar for about 40 years now. Playing professionally for about 20 of those

Musical Style:

70s rock is my favorite!

I waited for around 8 months before I gave my review of this fabulous Epiphone SG guitar. Its everything that I would want in an SG. Other than it been made by Epiphone there's really no difference. it's right up there with the Gibson one. It sounds great and it's a very professional instrument I am very satisfied.
Sound
With this Epiphone been equipped with all professional grade components such as the burstbuckers. the pots. the switch craft switch and the two piece mahogany body you can't go wrong it sounds fabulous.
Ease of Use
This is a plug and play guitar. It responds extremely well.It honestly sounds very vintage and of high quality.
Quality
So far it seems constructed really well.
Value
I believe its worth the asking price.Especially with the case.
Manufacturer Support
Zzounds answered every question imaginable

"It Just Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This!"

Okay, I’ve owned the Epiphone 1961 Les Paul Standard for a few months now. In my humble opinion it just doesn’t get much better than this. My SG has it all! As far as the setup is concerned the only thing that I needed to do was lower the action just a touch. I put a set of Stringjoy 9’s on it and have been rocking ever since! I’ve had absolutely no issues with this guitar at all. The neck relief, nut height, and fret work are flawless. I have put a set of Kluson locking tuners on it just because I really like them. Great fit but you do have to drill the holes out to 10mm and be very careful when taking the old tuner bushings out. I chipped the finish on the headstock a little. I also moved my neck strap button to the tip of the top horn. This makes a huge difference in playability when using a strap! I also have a 2004 Gibson SG Standard. Which is also a great guitar but, and I’m being honest with you, the Epi. is my number one instrument. I love everything about it. I highly recommend it.

Musical Background:

Professional. I started playing in 1972.

Musical Style:

I play Classic Rock whenever there’s an option, but I’ll play whatever pays me. I’m retired now but I still play a lot with frie

"Almost perfect"

The guitar is pretty good, great pickups, mostly good build quality and if you don't care about headstock names you'll likely be fine with this guitar. I do also own a 2019 Epiphone Les Paul Plustop pro and the QC was definitely better on that guitar while being roughly $300 cheaper. The SG body is practically perfect but the fretboard has a few small cosmetic issues. the 12th fret has a brown streak that looks like fretboard lacquer maybe stain. The other issue is a small binding consistency issue around the 9th fret high E string. A little disappointing since this is one of Epiphones more expensive SGs and my cheaper Les Paul seemed to have better QC. As for purchasing from zZounds I've had no issues so far. really like their 0 interest plans too. Overall ignoring the small cosmetic issues the guitar itself is a pretty Solid Guitar and id recommend it.

"Gibson custom shop quality at Epiphone prices"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This is my umpteenth Epiphone custom sg guitar ive bought since the last guitar i had which was the more lower end 61 standard i bought here used last year. The caps pots and Gibson USA burstbuckers are definitely a step up in the right direction and are true to the original reissue Sg standards back in the beginning of the Gibson sg. It sounds like a 2000 dollar Gibson reissue sg but at Epiphone import prices. I intend on keeping this guitar for a lifetime and is a good backup guitar to my similarly pricef esp ltd viper 1000 deluxe i bought a year ago from a competitor in the now disconnected tiger eye finish from zzounds. Lastly i also intend on getting a real Gibson sg custom 63 version used for a discounted price. One more thing i might buy a backup les Paul sg standard by Epiphone just in case this one gets stolen or lost. Thank you Epiphone custom for stepping up your game and making better sg custom shop guitars than in the past. The black Epiphone sg custom with gold hardware is no joke either and i might another one when i get done paying for this Les Paul sg standard first fron here.

Only complaint is the pickup selector switch feels loose and cheap, I plan on replacing all hardware and electronics except the pickups but the stuff it comes with is great, also has a beautiful wood grain that hides body seam well

"Wanna upgrade the hardware!"

Plays nice. Would prefer to put the better tuning, lock machines, and upgrade the pickups to maybe more expensive EMGs or real Gibson Humbuckers. This way, I know I'll be getting the best possible sound. Maybe just a recrowning of the frets. Then, I should have a 2-3 thousand dollar sound! Any suggestions, or feedback?

I bought this over the standard for the finish, the pickups and the Small pickgaurd. I just like the satin neck and the small guard. I thought the pickups would be great. They are for clean and medium gain. The neck pickup is great. But the bridge kinda sucks with high gain. I threw the box away so I can't send it back. So I'm stuck with it. I play all high gain so I will hafta change the bridge pickup. I should have just bought the standard, it's about half the price.
