This guitar is a dream to play, sounds amazing with a wide range with some very serious tone. The neck seems more "true" when playing, must be due to how it is actually going all the way through the entire body of the guitar, and it does affect the sound, the tone, it is something most serious guitar players are seeking and maybe over use settings to find that tone...having owned other guitars, Fender, Gretch, Guild, none of them sound anywhere near as goos as the firebird. I find myself using this guitar every day and have not bothered playing anything else since my purchase. And the set up on this firebird, it was perfect right out of the box, no need to adjust anything, changed the strings but aside from that, I did nothing to it, just tuned it up and plugged it in and started to enjoy.

Listen up children's, pull up a chair, I'ma gonna tell y'all a story. Been a Blues player all my life ( started playing age 5, I'm almost 60 now). Purchased my first Firebird in 1976, a Gibson Bicentenial 'Bird'. Loved it. Got run over by a careless roadie after a gig in 1983. Since then I purchased 9 more: 2 Epiphone (until this one which makes a 3rd Epiphone) and 7 Gibsons. The older Epiphones had, shall we say, issues. One with a bolt on neck had the red paint come off in my hand at a gig but the guys in Blue Oyster Cult (who we were opening for that night) thought it was cool. Looked like I was bleeding to death on stage. Another was so top heavy it was darn near unworkable. Now the Gibsons: in a word, they sucked too. Looked good, but some had electronic issues, most had poorly applied finishes and ALL of them had tuning issues even with Steinberger tuners. Problems, problems, problems. But I love the look and feel, and can manage to squeeze gig out of them before they need adjusting. Now, fast forward to this one ( my 10th Firebird) a 2021 Epiphone 'inspired by Gibson' Firebird. In a word: FLAWLESS! Finish and fit is perfect. Intonation is perfect. Tuning stays perfect. Balance is perfect. I love this thing. It is 1/4 the cost of my Gibson Firebird Elite, and has NONE of the issues that lemon has. This is everything a Firebird should have been from day one. Sustain for days, plays like a dream. And guess what? It does ( in my opinion having owned so many Firebirds) put the parent brand Firebird to shame. This thing is IT!!! Don't have headstock envy, the big 'G' has disappointed me at every turn even as a diehard Firebird lover, but this one is head and shoulders above the previous Epiphone versions, and in my opinion, better than the Gibson version, spoken from a lifetime of experience with the Firebird model.

I own a Gibson Gold Top Les Paul, a Gibson Cherry SG, and an American Fender Strat. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this Firebird blows them all away. I bought it only to have a different voice in the arsenal and didn't want to pay 3 times the money to get a Gibson Bird. Within 5 minutes this became my favorite guitar! Beautiful fit and finish, and perfect setup right out of the box. I don't have to do a thing to it. The CTS pots work perfectly, and the pickups are the real deal. You CANNOT tell the difference between this Epi and a Gibson with regards to looks, feel and sound. So impressed. It is, however, a beastly instrument. I just have to get used to having the weight of a coffee table around my neck. And I will. It's the guitar I pick up now every time I go into the wood shed. Only complaint is that it doesn't come with a case. I'd have gladly paid an extra hundred bucks to have it included.

Right out of the box, this Firebird was absolutely fantastic! No set up required, the action is low enough, no buzz from any frets, I did change strings but that is how all our Guitars are being played with lighter gauge strings! The tone and sound from this guitar is just awesome. Select which pickup you desire to get a great sound from and it will exceed any expectation you ever had. The Firebird is a tad wider and longer than many guitars so be perepared to buy a case made for it, generic cases are not wide enough nor long enough, but, zZounds has you covered for the best you could ask for, this was a fantastic choice, I love the sound even over other guitars. If you buy this you will love it! Also the finish is flawless, color is fantastic as well!

So after many months of researching this thing, (was contemplating buying a 19 or 20 used Gibson, since they do not make them anymore), I pulled the trigger on this Epiphone. !st, let me just say, I have played Gibson's for 40 years, And when this Bird showed up, I was absolutely blown away on the finish, Action was a tad high, easy fix, put my own strings on this thing, and could not find anything wrong with thing! No fret issues, no issues on the finish, body, neck etc...It is perfect. I plug this thing in, and it absolutely screams!! the mini humbuckers soung exactly like the 2005 Gibson Firebird V I have. zZounds was again amazing on this transaction, It was on back order for about 3 months when I placed the order, Showed up a little earlier than stated. For the price of this Guitar, I am blown away with the fit and finish, There are Gibson Employee's in that factory from the US in China at that factory, and when I opened this box, and plugged it in, It shows! If your thinking of buying one of these, Do not wait! pull the trigger!, you will not be disappointed

I just got my first Firebird after playing in bands live since 1981. Bought the Epiphone tobacco sunburst and the minute I started playing it I knew I've finally, after almost 40 years of playing, found the perfect guitar. The fret board is wide, mini humbuckers sound amazing. I'm so impressed with this Epiphone I can't believe how much they have stepped up their game. I don't have to modify anything to this guitar. I'm proud to say I have an Epiphone of this caliber. It's straight up a really great guitar....It stays in tune no matter how hard I play it. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe they're listening to what we've all been wanting
Sound
Mini humbuckers are like Angus Young hitting an A chord on stage. A perfect distorted sound yet able to cover blues for my needs in a Telecaster type sound yet a bit different I can't explain it. Thin yet wood and thick....It's just the perfect guitar for me and I've found the guitar I'll never put down. Did my first recording with it tonight and it really separates from my Les Paul in the tracking.

I must admit I was more than sceptical about this guitar. For the price, and the specs, how could a guy go wrong. I have no complaints at all. Just a couple little things, the most comical was that they didnt intonate half the bridge saddles.. Must have been break time.haha However, the frets are perfect, no sprouts, no high frets at all. I did lower the action, and set the truss rod to flatten out the neck a little, and it plays as good as anything else I own. This is by far the least expensive guitar I have bought in a very long time. I think PRS has got the others on the ball about making their less expensive models better. These pickups are no joke either!! The neck feels just like my Flying V, so that is a very welcome feature. Epiphone has a new fan here!! Zzounds as always was easy to work with, very smooth transaction.

This guitar is amazing!! I've wanted one since a year and a half ago when they were first out. 65th BD present from family. Killer !!Dusting off some Skynyrd, ABB and all.Great delivery time here but more attention needs to be paid to packaging. My guitar was an Epi box with flat bubble wrap under the neck then the outer box had two folded pieces of card board and a small piece of packing paper. Surprised it made the trip.LP or SG? maybe not.man, i had trouble with the Br Pup after an hour. Funny the neck pick up was ok.Switched the cord around and it's worked eversince (two days now). Either a cable works or it don't was what about 50 years of playing taught me.I LOVE the Firebird. Just please pack things better.

First off: I’ve owned Gibson Firebirds (Les Pauls, SGs, Flying Vs etc) . I’m no expert , but I’ve had (and HAVE) my share of musical instruments .This Firebird is AMAZING !!Looks , feels , and SOUNDS great . A/B against the Gibson , and the only real difference is the smell of the finish , the name badge and country of origin .The folks at Zzounds are fantastic to work with . This is my 4th or 5th purchase here . My stuff always gets here REALLY fast , and is always well packed .I forgot to add the shirt to my order , and they sent me one , free of charge .When I noticed the price drop , today , I contacted them , and they deducted the difference from my account .I’ve dealt with the other online and brick and mortar stores , and am REALLY impressed by zZounds .I highly recommend them , and KNOW you will be satisfied with their service and prices , which they obviously stand behind .I’m going to go back to my music rooo , and get my Johnny Winter groove on , with my new Bird !!

I have four other Epiphone inspired by Gibson guitars and this one may be the best of them all. The build quality for the money is off the charts! Wow! The only set up required out of the box was lowering the bridge for the action I prefer (1/16” on both high and low Es). The neck truss rod was set perfectly right out of the box - very unusual. Fret job is excellent and so is the nut - very impressive quality for the money. This guitar is a keeper. I suspect it would pass as a Gibson in a blindfold test. Bravo, Epiphone!

Finally pulled the trigger on this. Arrived nicely packaged. Perfect out of the box. What an incredible value If I had only one thing to say about it it is that it sounds so much better than I expected. It screams and sings. Even clean tone with just comp and verb and this thing bites like a beast. Great build, beautiful finish. I am just so glad I finally got one after decades of wanting one. Payment plan worked perfect for me. Will buy here again and again. I have a list...

First of all, super fast shipping and nice packaging from Zzounds. The guitar was really great, right out of the box. I love the brighter, chimy-er humbuckers. As someone who tends to pick up a Strat, these are the HBs for me! The frets were great, no fret sprout whatsoever and the finish on this guitar is flawless! Volume and tone are great, everything feels solid. The ONLY little thing I would critique: the pickup selector switch was installed slightly off-axis; it doesn't go directly north to south ;), but that will be fixed on my bench in under 5 mins. I'm super impressed, love the sound and playability and highly recommend it.

Cudos to zZounds. Easy transaction, delivered on time. This guitar arrived perfect! Took it out of the box and it is stunningly beautiful. No fret spout. Nicely polished frets. Good set up.Took it to practice last night. My bandmates were wowed, too!The tone, sound, is that of a 63 Gibson Firebird.Didn't think it would replace my Gibson Firebird Studio, but, there's a very good chance that this knocks my Gibson Les Paul studio off of the stage, I only take two, and it will be the Birds.Buy with confidence.Watch for the new Lemon Frog album "Citrus Amphibian", coming spring of 2022. This guitar will be on it!

For the pricepoint I didn't expect it to look or play like it's 2000$ big brother, but it holds up very well in some ways, and falls flat in others. The finish on this guitar is amazing, and it really does look and feel stunning in your hands, until you get into some details.Frets were sprouted terribly upon arrival - which can happen in shipping, it is what it is. But I had to seat several frets - hammer time ! - and file the ends down on every fret by a large margin ( after treating the bone dry pau-ferro board and letting it sit in my climate controlled guitar room for a week or two at 55% humidity ).The fretboard is my biggest issue, and the one reason I may not keep this guitar in my stable. It just looks and feels SO rough even when oiled and stored at proper humidity. The grain is very long and very wide, creating a textured feeling that is akin to playing on an old sun-soaked picnic table at best. Not sure if these models get any QC either, my 3 way switch was dead on arrival and was only a two way, which got upgraded with switch-craft immediately and was not worth a returndd. Plug it in and it sounds like a firebird, and I still don't think it's a terrible guitar at the price point - the biggest disappointment is this fret board.TLDR - paint finish and binding is all great, it looks killer and sounds the part too. Lot of love lost in the details though, be ready to polish it up a bit if they're all anything like mine was.

I've had this Epiphone Firebird almost a year , and I have to say I got a really good one , straight out he box it was really nice , no fret end sprouts or unlevel frets , as others stated , but I guess mine was built on a Wednesday lol, I also own a 2019 Gibson firebird , both are the same color and only difference is the bridge. And the headstock is slightly different , as far as QC the Gibson had a few Bless in the finish but not bad the. Poly finish on the Epi was pretty flawless , and they both have the neck through construction, I actually think they sound very similar as far as pickups go , and the Epiphone actually has very nice CTS pots and Orange drop caps , I did make some mods that I do with most of my Epiphone guitars , I changed the large bridge studs and Bridge out for U.S. conversion studs and a nickel U.S. ABR1 Bridge , and a Gibson aluminum tailpiece which vibrates better and transfers the tones to the body better , I also changed the 3 way switch to a switchcraft Firebird/SG style switch and that's it the Grover tuners hold tune perfect and like I said the Epi Pro Firebird pups are awesome, I've A/B this guitar on a Fender tweed Blues junior and a Vox ac15c1 and it sounds fantastic , I also did the same test with the gibson all settings the same and I swear they sound identical, so to sum it up the New 2020 Epiphone Firebird is a great buy and a great guitar , very chimey when clean and also can kick up the dirt when pushed , also ZOUNDS is pretty awesome. I love their pay as you play plan , I've been a customer for almost 13 years and they've always treated me fair, and I am a ALL ACCESS CUSTOMER, which is pretty cool , I hope this review helps you guys and girls out , take care and ROCK ON

Out of the box, this guitar had 1 issue. The nut had jarred loose (I'm guessing during shipping). It had actually worked itself almost halfway out of the neck. It wasn't worth returning since it is an easy fix. The nut itself was still in good condition and after repairing it, I put it to the test. The guitar stays in tune and looks amazing. The pickups are a little underwhelming for me. I wish they were a tad bit more aggressive. A lot more "twang" than I was expecting. I haven't messed with the setup, so maybe that will help. I've read some reviews that the fretboard was in bad condition. I didn't have this issue. Also, the balance on my guitar is favored towards the head. It's a little cumbersome, but I'll get used to it. Overall, this guitar looks great, sounds good and the sustain is undeniable.

Thank you zZounds! You are now two for two. Once again I opened the box to find yet another beautiful instrument. I'm not just a little smitten this is a full blown oxytocin raging into a passionate affair of the senses. I must say as excited as I was to get my new Firechicken I also had some doubts as I have owned a mid to late 90's built Epiphone Firebird in the past. However that unfortunate specimen was cursed with a bolt on neck which left it feeling unbalanced as well as seeming to have a ridiculously long scale length verging on being a baritone guitar. I really loathed playing that guitar but I love Firebirds and I've wanted another since I rid myself of that sorry p.o.s. That being said my new Firebird is a far superior instrument as soon as I unwrapped my new gift to myself I plugged it into my Blues Jr. and immediately got a John Lee Hooker-esque tone think "Boom, Boom's" opening riff well Im far beyond delighted. There's been a smile etched into my face for a good 24hrs now. This guitar is a work of art from the beautifully walnut pin-striped mahogany neck-thru-body construction to the gorgeous cream binding and trapezoid inlays as well as the polished nickel hardware and Grover mini tuners. I'm incredibly happy I took a leap of faith and purchased another Firebird. This time its a "REAL" Firebird.

Guitar came with the neck correct and good action. Sounds very nice, classy. Quality is pretty good but I cant rate 5 stars because there was some minor bubbling around the switch. I wont be sending it back because I have read of others getting them in worse shape than that. Definitely a good guitar though so far, but its only been a couple of days.

Nice!!!! I own a 2018 Gibson Firebird Studio and this Epi holds it own against it. Out of the box, I was one of the fortunate ones and received a nice specimen with a great set up and no issues one might fear and or expect with an over seas production. The action is slightly higher than I am used to but plays great none the less and this is easily remedied if desired. The fret work is really great (best I have ever had on an Epiphone) with no sprout at all and no buzz. The only real critique is the usual lacquer used is not as nice as the Gibson version and I may sand the neck eventually as I always do on most guitars with poly. That said it does not feel cheap despite the lacquer IE: Epi Muse. This is a very fun and inspiring guitar to play and the pickups sound really nice, especially the bridge. Blues, Rock, Punk Indie and even jazz. Great buy!!!

I'm 60, have been playing rock smooth jazz , blues. I'm a Firebird fan. I've owned several. 2021 Epiphone Firebird is well made . My only complaint is the neck is bulky . Not certain if it just didn't get sized correctly. However i play it regularly through a 2 x12 cab w/ creambacks favorite is the non- reverse model I bought used in mint condition Pelham Blue. It had the "tone" that puts smiles on faces .Ease & Upper registry fret work much like MY '70 Walnut. ES-335 .Next is the black neckthru. Have photos of all of them . Been playing over 50 years.

Nice!!!! I own a 2018 Gibson Firebird Studio and this Epi holds it own against it. Delivery was fast but upon opening my guitar I see right away that the nut is loose , they never even checked to see if the guitar was ok , I’ve bought 8-10 guitars from Sweetwater, never had a problem, i thought I’d give zZounds a chance , I’m not being rude or mean but will be my last guitar purchase from zZounds, a man spends a lot of money on a guitar should be able to play it right out of the box, not have to fix it , then it takes a week to hear back , foolme once !!!
