while I now know who Lee Malia is, probably not the biggest fan of his music. Guess I am getting old. ha-ha. That being said I am a HUGE fan of his signature RD.I own several Epiphones and this has become my favorite and go to guitar.I am not a professional musician but play daily, mostly for my mental health. First the issues, you will read two main things online, the tuning keys are sticky and the P94 has a bad him. Both true but an easy fix. The dummy coil on my guitar, and I suspect many if not all, was installed backwards at the factory. My local Luthier found it when i was having the guitar set up and flipped it. It was an easy fix and not expensive. Now the P94 is whisper quiet regardless of gain. The tuning keys are sticky but if you spin them about 100 times each they loosen up and hold tune fine regardless. Other than, and even with, that this guitar is amazing. The fit and finish were both perfect. The set up out of the box was great. Intonation was spot on the the action was playable if high for me. After the set up the action is as low as my Gibson's with no fret buzz. The tones you can get out of this guitar will blow you away. The P94 is deep and growling but not muddy in the least. The bridge humbucker snarls in full mode and has a P90 esque bite in single coil. I love the middle position with the bridge split. No other guitar I have can get that tone.Te guitar is a bit on the large size but well balanced and not overly heavy. The sustain goes on for days. The neck is the perfect blend of 50s girth and D shape. I am not a fan of the slim taper D but find this a happy medium.Like I said, rapidly became my #1. At the price zZounds was clearing these out for you can not go wrong.
Sound
This is a tone machine. It growls, bites and sngs. Easy to get bell like tones from it. Do not think this is a metal guitar, although it can handle that as well. You can play just about anything with it.
Features
The combination of P94 and split coil 84T-LM is amazing.
Ease of Use
Easy playing guitar. Not too heavy and well balanced.
Quality
Other than the tuners, this is by far the best Epi I own.
Manufacturer Support
Epiphone is typical of all large firms these days. zZounds has always been very responsive and accommodating when i reach out.
The Wow Factor
Unique in every regard.

"Excellent Value For A Unique Guitar"

For those who have always wanted a Gibson RD but can't afford an original, this guitar will fill every inch of that void and more. Right out of the box, the guitar was 100% playable (even tuned correctly). The pickup configuration makes it so the guitar can play any style of music. The only gripe that I have is that the tuners are slightly sub-par. They stay in tune for the most part but they feel pretty cheap and will definitely won't last very long. I'll be dropping a set of Hipshot tuners ASAP.

"Cool,but..."

...the bridge is slightly too far back(I mean very small amount),can't be properly set up since a few saddles are all the way forward and still intonate flat. Aside from that,it really is nice for the $$'s and sounds/plays very good -I would have maybe preferred the Les Paul version to the RD if it was still avail.
Sound
Strong and clear....rockin'
Features
It's like a Lles Paul with a diff shape...has cool inlays
Ease of Use
Was set up pretty well, did not have to adjust action,neck...
Quality
Well made, overall ...the only prob is the bridge placement, fixable but I am inclined to not screw around with a brand new instrument. Will be returning, unfortunately
Value
It's a great deal, just make sure you have one you're happy with
Manufacturer Support
Epiphone/Gibson has good support, maybe a little slow depending on things
The Wow Factor
It kind of depends on what you like aesthetically, I think it looks pretty cool and I'm generally not a metal or even necessarily a hard rock guitar player

"Great guitar, after some work..."

Arrived in good condition. Could tell this particular guitar sat around for a while. Frets weren't polished at all or had tarnished just as bad as the strings. Had a little fret sprout near the upper register on the high e side. Tuners were absolute garbage and were replaced with gotohs that dropped right in. Had to set a dowel in the neck side strap button and redrill the hole due to it ripping out of the body after a couple of days. Had a lot of fret buzz on the low e and a string all up and down the neck. Nut was cut poorly. The g string was barely even seated in it with stock strings. After all of those issues were taken care off and it was set up to c standard it has become my main guitar. Love the look and definitely love the feel now. If you are willing to give it some TLC or a professional setup this guitar is amazing especially for the 499 I paid. Only complaint is that even at this price point there are certain expectations guitars should meet right out of the box. Buy one trash the tuners and do a setup and you'll love it.
Sound
The main reason I got it was for the p94 in the neck and the splittable humbucker in the bridge. They used Gibson USA pickups so it sounds fantastic and is versatile enough to cover many genres of music without too much work.
Features
Tuners were bad. It's almost like they had 4:1 tuners in it. Intonation was impossible to set out of the box due to the nut.The pickups and the lp scale length on the neck are awesome. Also the body shape is incredible comfortable while standing or sitting. For such an oddly shaped guitar I would have paid extra for the hardshell case. The gig bag is cheap.
Ease of Use
Played ok out of the box for about 20 mins before it was completely out of tune. Bends felt terrible unt it was set up.
Quality
Overall everything was great, tuners and nut aside.
Value
For the money you will not find this pickup configuration or body style.
Manufacturer Support
Never used it.
The Wow Factor
Sounds fantastic. Like really really fantastic.

Love this guitar. I decided to get it for the Gibson pickups and I had a couple of Epiphone guitars in the past that I loved. Got this and was surprised how nice the fit was. It's just a comfortable guitar sitting or standing. I am still experimenting with all the sounds I can get with this but the volume and tone controls give you such a variety of deep and clean to just pure demolition crunch that it just makes me smile. Best guitar I have purchased for the money and that includes plenty of gibsons and fenders.

"Epiphone RD"

So the first thing to look at is quality. I reviewed a few youtube videos to see what others thought of this and the series of the 3. Everyone likes the look and feel, but some of the craftmanship was a little off. One example was the nut not lining up and the frets off. What I found was very solid less the machine heads (tuning pegs) I am pretty sure I will replace them. Frets, nut, craftsmanship very good. Depending on how you like the action will determine if you reset it up, which I did. Plays like my Gibson explorer now very satisfied. My only grip is, why a gig bag? The best part of this bag is the embroidery of the epiphone name. So ok its typical of todays buying of cheaply priced guitars. While looking for after market case, I found that the only case this guitar will fit is the epiphone explorer case. So for $499.00 can't beat the price, but like me, I will spend the money to buy the case and replace the tuners. Case $119.00 tuners 80 to 200 depending. So $700.00 in all for a nice guitar that has some very good features (gibson P90 and gibson humbucker) worth it!!!!

It is a very nice guitar, plays great and is a real treat with the Gibson pickups. Color, parts and everything else make this a true one of a kind experience. The pickups themselves are reason enough to buy it.

Guitar is stunning and lightweight, however the tuner of the D string was snapped clean off in the box. Kinda took the wind out of the sails of excitement. Replacement order should be set up soon we hope!
