I know that at first glance this appears to be another re-hashed version of the '59 Les Paul that Epiphone released a few years ago. But now that I have it in my hands, I can tell it's not.I owned the previous version and didn't care for it much. THIS guitar, on the other hand, feels like a great Les Paul. The finish on mine is much more figured, the neck has a perfect vintage contour that fits my hand like a glove. It's a good weight at a little under 9 lbs. The hard case is more substantial, the setup on mine was actually perfect. The nut is cut perfectly and it's staying in tune fine.. and this guitar resonates acoustically extremely well. The open-book headstock looks great here too. But the star of the show here are these Custombuckers. I honestly believe that these are the best sounding humbuckers I've ever played. Very vocal & open sounding, both clean and distorted. I was dying to get my hands on a set, but didn't wanna pay the Gibson Custom Shop prices. This is just an overall great Les Paul that (I believe) will easily rival anything that Gibson USA is putting out these days.

"Very good Les Paul with excellent tone"

Just received this Inspired by Gibson '59 Les Paul In Factory Burst from zZounds. Out of the case it needed a setup as the action was very high and the truss rod needed a tweakas would be expected for any new guitar so that is not a knock. The guitar looks beautiful. I have a '96 Gibson Les Paul Classic with Burstbucker pros in it in the same color scheme and they look nearly identical and both are beautiful. The Epiphone has a slightly better weight balance than the Gibson. The neck profile on the Epi is a little rounder but I might say a better fit for me (the differences are very slight), The Custom bucker pickups are astoundingly perfect at "that tone"! This is a seriously high quality guitar regardless of make. I plugged it into my Marshall SV-20 (also purchased from Zzounds) and used an Amalgam greenback 4x12 IR and was blown away! I had the amp channels jumped and the High Treble volume on ten and the normal channel on 5. With this and the volume knobs on the Epi I was able to go from clean almost breakup to pretty crunchy without any need to adjust the amp settings at all. One difference I will point out is that the headstock angle is much shallower than the "real" Gibsons I have (I have several) This is common to most Asian Les Paul type guitars and I don't see it as a problem and probably saves a lot of wood as it reduces the needed thickness of the blank used to make the neck substantially but you may want to take note of that. All in all this guitar is a serious quality instrument at a very comfortable price point.it has the tone that sends me back to my youth when a lot of my heroes sounded like this.If you are looking for an extremely high quality tone machine that is beautiful to look at and play all while having "the tone of the Gods" right out of the box by all means run to your computer and order this thing from Zzounds! If you are a fan of the Les Paul and want a chance to get one guitar that faithfully reproduces the tone of what is probably the most iconic guitar in music history (The '59 burst) this is the guitar you want unless you happen to have another $5,000 or so burning a hole in your pocket. to buy a Gibson Custom Shoop '59. I'd rate it at a 9.5 out of ten! it's that good.

I have the previous model with the Burstbuckers. It is a very good guitar. In my opinion this new model is significantly better. The new headstock is nice but the biggest improvement is the Custombuckers. They are phenomenal pickups. The neck to me feels better than the previous model. The shape of neck is better and the feel of the finish is better. It definitely needed a setup (especially the frets) but once I had my luthier do a full setup on it the guitar is awesome. I have numerous Gibson Les Pauls (Standards and Slash models). These new 59’s are extremely close now to my Gibsons.

Yes this guitar is a beast. The pickups are the best feature. They scream. I’ve had a few Les Paul’s over time. 2 Gibson Standards 2000 and 2021. Also a Buckethead signature. These pickups honestly have the most balanced tone. I had the original Epiphone reissue which was nice too. However this one has much more effort put into it. The setup was great pots and knobs smooth no static scratchy sounds. There is no difference in tone from this and a Gibson. Only thing I didn’t like was the top has no gloss but I guess that’s to make it look vintage.

The first one I ordered was great.. except..The nut wasn’t cut properly and anything above the 4th fret was way out of tune. The look and feel of the guitar was amazing. Absolutely loved the neck on this one. I have larger than normal hands and it fits perfectly. The nut I could have had fixed pretty easily but. When I went to remove the bridge I had to literally use extreme force. The mounting post had been drilled to far apart. I had to send it back. I really didn’t want to so I did an exchange. zZounds was so easy to work with it was not an issue at all. The one I have now is my baby! The nuts perfect and everything is as it should be. Sounds amazing, plays fantastic and no sharp frets! This one’s not going anywhere. This is my first and I think only 5 star rating. For manufacturers support I gave a 5. That’s zZounds rating from me. They sent the exchange the day I sent the first one back so I was only down a guitar for 2 maybe 3 days.
