I ordered this guitar a couple of weeks ago, and have been exceptionally pleased since it arrived. It was setup beautifully. Right out of the box, it played very well, and the tone is fairly true for a laminate. I have been playing along with a Gibson Hummingbird, a Gibson J-45 and a Taylor, with out any major tonal differences. Quite a value!!

I have been playing Blues, Rock and Country recreationally for nearly 40 years.

I purchased the used or blemished version of Eppi J-45 and was very pleased with the condition. I really had to look to find the discoloration which was on the side, top, near the neck. It looked to be part of the guitar. The guitar arrived with the truss rod not adjusted so the strings were touching the frets. Eppi supplied the allen wrench and detailed instructions on how to adjust the truss rod. After adjustment, which took about an hour, the guitar played beautifully….and it looks and feels wonderful….I am so happy to finally have a J-45….It plays and sounds and good as my friend's Gibson J-45. It is quite unbelievable to have a guitar of this quality for 149.00 dollars. Thank you zZounds and Epiphone…I am very grateful……The Buddy Holly riffs and bright and clean and the blues in open E sound so raw and gritty……Beautiful guitar Thank you again….God Bless All and Enjoy your music…It is a gift from God……...

I play mostly country and southern rock, and I have rarely picked up a guitar that played so comfortably, right out of the box. I noticed that the headstock sticker and accompanying documents showed the guitar was made in Indonesia, but set up in the USA. The setup on mine was fantastic. The quality, setup, and superior tone of this instrument make it a valuable addition to my collection. It has also inspired me to try other offerings from Epiphone in different shapes. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, beginner, novice, or professional. It is a fabulous guitar and unbelievable value!

An economy copy of the Gibson J45. Well made. looks good, sounds good, more trebly than bassy with light gauge strings. Overall a very nice guitar for very little money. Guitar was NOT very well packed when shipped to me. Product packing sould be a lot better.

The black and white guitar is a real looker. I love the binding-like detail that is painted along the body. Gives it a real vintage feel. Out of the box, the truss rod needed quite a bit f adjusting to get the buzz out. Still breaking this one in, but I will probably switch to a coated or steel string over the brass. Very happy with my purchase. I play this every night.

When I opened up tte box and pulled out the guitar, I was amazed to find a beautiful guitar. I own a Gibson J45 1967 vintage and the Epiphone J45 is just as beautiful and sounds great like the Gibson. I had thought that the bottom and sides would be laminated but they were solid mahogany. It sounds as good as my Larrivee D-10-E. My advise: Buy this guitar before they stop making them. I am thinking of buying another.

I bought this Epiphonr J-45 guitar from zZounds in vintage sunburst and I am very happy with it. The quality is excellent, the set up was good, after a small tweak to the truss rod...new Elixir 80/20 nanoweb lights and I replaced the plastic pins with ebony pins. The result is thrilling! Why spend $2199 for a Gibson J-45? ...When $199 will give you the EXACT same look and feel. The tone is excellent. I am not saying it is a Gibson, but this guitar really shines for the price...it is a limited edition...when gone they will be no more. As always zZounds is a wonderful trustworthy company. They delivered a perfect guitar, at a perfect price, the first time. Get one while you can!

The guitar arrived quickly as promised. It was packaged well, and looked amazing out of the box. Upon playing, my ears were not as happy as my eyes were. Many of the frets buzzed loudly, even with light picking. I adjusted the truss a bit, but could not get it to stop, so I returned the guitar instead of investing in a set up. The sound of the guitar was great in the few places that it didn't buzz. Return process was smooth.

For $160.00, this Epiphone copy of a Gibson is a good entry level guitar and even good for a professional who may play in some questionable venues, where theft or damage could occur to the guitar from barroom brawling! $160.00 is no big financial loss! It certainly looks like a 1963 Gibson J5, but please don't be under the misconception that you will be getting a guitar that has the magic sound of an authentic hand made, quality woods $3700.00 Gibson! This Epiphone copy of the Gibson has a bright chimey sound, close action all the way up the fret board & is a good buy for the money, but it ain't a Gibson & it ain't "The Workhorse"!!!

I got this guitar a few days ago hoping it would be an ok sounding guitar. I wanted a J45 style and cannot afford a Gubson. The guitar arrived quickly and was well packaged. This guitar is which is a Vintage Sunburst is a beautiful guitar and craftsmanship is top notch. I was amazed that Epiphone can produce an instrument of this quality for such a low price. The tone was great but for the style I wanted this gir the light strings did not give me the volume I wanted. After putting on phosphor bronze medium gauge this guitar came alive. I have several guitars and have owned various models of Gibson, Taylor, Martin, Guild, Gretsch, you name it and although many were fine instruments they were expensive, this Epiphone sounds like it should cost many times over the actual cost. Has great volume and that great Gibson warm tone. Needless to say, my next purchase from zZounds will be another Epiphone a Dove Pro to be specific. If you are wanting a J45 style dont hessitate to snatch one of these babies up before they are all gone, they are a limited run you know, you will not be dissappointed and zZounds is a great company to do business with.

The guitar is great for song writing and plays good.i seen some one said the body was solid mahogany not true laminated spruce and mahogany. But very nice sounds really well and for the price you can't beat it only thing I wish is that it had a solid top even for 100 dollars more it would be worth it but all in all one great guitar that sounds as good as a lot of higher dollar guitars

I've played a Gibson J-45 for over 10 years, it's a workhorse, my go-to, but it's too valuable now to take on the road. I thought I'd try this to see how they compare. The neck, the weight, the action, the price; I like everything about this guitar. The tone is very comparable to my J-45 and it plays great. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

I have a J-45 from the early 90's that I have always loved, I hate taking it on the road, so I thought I would try the Epiphone 1963 J45. first thing I did was change the strings, then I switched out the plastic bridge pins for some tusq pins. final product is a very affordable guitar that plays like my original Gibson j-45. The sound is brighter but balanced and I can take it on the road without any worries. I'm loving it. I have not had to use Epiphone support but this site does not have an N/A option.
