55 years of playing, 40 as a touring Blues guitarist...I think I've found the Holy Grail! In fact, 3 of them to be exact! Last month I purchased the Sheraton with the frequensator tail piece. What a great guitar! I liked it so much that a week later I purchased the Sheraton II Pro with full sized humbuckers with coil tapping pots. Another amazing axe! I jokingly said to my wife that the only thing I would want is a cherry red Sheraton with a tremolo and Gibson mini humbuckers, but that was just my idea of a perfect guitar, but there were none available and I had no idea this was to be released. Strangely, a week after receiving my ebony Sheraton II, I think the guitar gods smiled on my wishlist and low and behold, Epiphone released this 150th anniversary model...cherry red, tremolo arm, and Gibson mini humbuckers...I drooled over it for a few weeks on line. But I was paying on 2 other Sheratons. So, I only dreamt of someday owning this one, when out of the blue, Fed Ex showed up today with a rather large box at my door; my wife said 'Happy Birthday!' and now I am the proud owned of not one, not 2 but 3 amazing Sheraton guitars! The fit and finish are flawless. The wood grain shows through the cherry finish in stunning fashion. After a quick setup and change of strings to my preferred brand, I am in heaven! 3 Sheratons, all feel exactly the same ( after my preferred set up) but 3 completely different sounding guitars, none better or worse than the other, just totally different! The upgraded Gibson pickups in this Anniversary Sheraton are creamy smooth, easily usable for country, blues, rock and funk. The tremolo arm is not suitable for 'dive bombing' of course, but just adds a little something extra when needed. To be honest, the other one I have, with the Epiphone Pro Bucker mini's is a bit hotter, but the Gibson pups in the anniversary model are smooth as silk. Totally different sound in a guitar that feels exactly the same as my other 2. Like I said, I am in heaven. Can't say one bad thing about any of the 3 Sheratons I recently acquired. But this one, the Cherry Red Anniversary with the Gibson pup's is a dream come true! Case is great too, included in the price. If you think this version of the Sheraton is overpriced, consider that it comes with a great hardshell case, a tremolo arm, Gibson pickups and upgraded electronics. If you were going to add these to a standard Sheraton, you'd be well beyond this price point. It's a great deal!Well done, Epiphone, well done!
