"EMU XMIDI 1X1 TAB with Windows 7 Home Premium"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Expect it to remain thoroughly satisfactory for simple MIDI to USB use
Sound
This is MIDI, not sound
Features
This is being used with a new Windows 7 machine from Dell. Contrary to what I'd read it wasn't plug and play. Necessary to download drivers from E-Mu. On the plus side there are now updated drivers (non-beta) for W7. Once the drivers were installed no problem. Downrated only for not being P&P.
Ease of Use
Again, downrated for not being P&P
Quality
Appears to be very good to excellent
Value
Best value for the application (haven't tried the similar products from M-Audio and Hosa)
Manufacturer Support
Experience online only, to download the driver, a bit less than 100% intuitive, but all in all very good.
The Wow Factor
Simple, no nonsense design for the application

"Way too short"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
All I know about this cord is that it is WAY too short. It needs to be two or three times as long. When plugged into a Yamaha S80 (full size keyboard) the cord reaches all of 18" to the right of the edge of the keyboard. If your PC is more than 18 inches away from your keyboard then this is simply not for you. I am returning it.
Quality
The cable feels well made.

"Don't Buy A Separate USB-MIDI Keyboard...Use You Own"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Does its job, no complaints.
Sound
No data loss in MIDI to USB signal transfer in my experience, as good as any legitimate MIDI device.
Features
Didn't come with a driver, but in most versions of Windows, the driver will install automatically after plug-in.(I'm assuming it is either from Windows' network or the device itself.)
Ease of Use
Pretty much plug and play, check you sequencer's/Daw's manual for set up instruction. Took me a while to realize that midi IN on the cable was really MIDI OUT
Quality
Again, everything worked fine, that's all you can ask a cable/interface to do.
Value
Decent price, other interfaces that do the same thing cost a bit more.
Manufacturer Support
Did not have to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
Very useful for turning your old keyboards into MIDI USB keyboards. Which is great for musicians on a tight budget.
