I'll use it til the wheels fall off.
Sound
Sound quality is awesome. It is on par with my MP7 Command Station. Emu has done it again. I've only used it standalone so far, sequenced using a Roland JW-50. I had some trouble getting it to respond in time to my midi sequencer, but decreasing the buffer size did the trick. My computer meets all the recommeded system requirements, not sure how well it would work with only minimum requirements.
Features
Comes with a nice 24/96 sound card, the emu 0404. Patchmix Dsp and ASIO routing is kind of complicated to use at first, for me, being that I just switched over to a computer system from a Roland V Studio. The hardware accelerated effects are a big plus, no cpu overload.
Quality
I really like the card, but the breakout cables could use thicker shielding.
Value
I think it's a great value for the money. A great sounding professional sound card, 2Gb of awesome sounds, expandable, also includes Cubasis VST 4, Wavelab lite, plenty of software to get you going. $150 isn't bad at all. Just last year I spent $700 for the command station and another $400 for 3 extra sound roms.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't dealt with the company concerning this product.
The Wow Factor
I really wanted the soundcard to add to the professional quality of my setup, but for an extra $50 you can't go wrong with this. Just make sure you have a decent computer sytem to run it on.

Sound
The nicest thing I can say about this product is the box the unit came in is very professional. Everything after that is pure crap. AFter opening the box you will be surprised with 4 pages of info that you have to correct or make sure you have current window settings, etc. There are beginning instructions that say "If" you do install Proteus LX and have ProteusX or EmulatorX already installed? (Huh, that's why I bought the thing was to install it on my computer) you may encounter a blank screen towards the end of the install that will hang or freeze your computer. If you computer does freeze or hang-reboot your computer and re-install software. Yeah, they new from the beginning you're gonna have problems. So yes, it did hang not once but 3 times had to re-boot. There are 7 disks in the set. I received 3 application errors during install. None of the names on the disks match the names of the disk in the manual. There are other 3rd party software of which 3 of those crashed my computer. 2 of those asked for serial numbers which are not included. After 6.5 hours of pure frustration I am sending this piece of crap back. Musicians are not computer geeks although I am probably more of a geek than a musician and this is nothing more than trash. I even called EMU personally & talked with one of their staff before buying because I have never had a PCI sound card work without serious tweaking and long hours. Once again I was not disappointed. If you just want to get sound into and out of your computer, go USB sound cards. I bought the proteus more for the software sounds it was supposed to produce. Boy that was a mistake!Good luck I wish you well if you buy this product.
