If you are looking for a pedal that can do crunch to igh gain, this pedal will get the job done. I had been looking for a distortion pedal with a wide range of tones available regardless of the amp or guitar being used. The Heavy Menace is exactly what I was looking for. I play it through my REVV G20 clean and drive channels and it sounds incredible. The Empress Heavy Menace is a standout distortion pedal. It doesn't just deliver powerful distortion; it is incredibly versatile Each tone adjustment is easy and intuitive, allowing you to achieve the exact sound you're looking!! One of the features that I was most excited about was the noise gate. Even at high gain, it eliminates any unwanted noise, ensuring your sound remains clean and articulate. It really eliminates the need to have a separate noise gate/suppression pedal. With the 3-band EQ and mid-sweep function, you can easily fine-tune your tone in order to find any sound your after. 

The Tight control allows for accurate articulation of fast and complex riffs. The True Bypass ensures that the original tone is preserved when the pedal is off. Taking all this into account is why the Heavy Menace has become the main drive on my pedalboard!

I literally just received my empress menace today and I have NOT gotten anything else done today besides playing guitar lol. This thing is ridiculously sick, and the tones you can get with it are all over the place...everything from crunchin Rock to straight up chugging death. There is so much gain on tap with this thing it's unreal. The noise gate is amazing this thing let's sustain ring out when you want it to, and also cuts everything at the snap of a finger when you want. On top of how good it works, it's also beautiful to look at, the sparkle in the black looks way better in person. I've wanted this pedal for a while now and I'm so stoked to have it. If you're looking for a top of the line distortion pedal that can crunch to full on scream then buy this thing. You won't be disappointed....

This thing rips. Very versatile, very thick distortion pedal. The addition of a gate is awesome and really indicates the level of thought Empress puts into their design. On that same not, adding a key input for the gate was a genius idea. I have friends and bandmates with Empress pedals and they all sound fantastic and are of high quality. Money well spent. I want the paraEQ next...
