Maybe I'm spoiled, but many years ago when I first bought my EV 300SX speakers, I also shelled out the extra cash for covers from EV ($80 each). I was never sorry since these covers were very well-made and were padded and lined inside with plush red velvet. After about 6 years, the zipper broke, but aside from that they were worth the money. SO- when I bought my new EV ELX112s, without hesitation, I also bought the available speaker covers for $49 each. I didn't really expect them to be as great as the 300SX covers I had, but even so, I was disappointed with how flimsy theses things are. I guess they're better than nothing, but for $49, I expected a little more. The covers have a velcro pocket on one side in which to store the power cord (nice!) but the first time I used them, one of the pockets ripped (not nice!).

I needed a smaller class D amplified speaker and always shop Zzounds first. At first I thought how good could a 12" speaker sound but what do I have to lose since I can return it, and at $399 it was very affordable. The sound and bass response is incredible although not quite as punchy as my 15" but for smaller indoor venues it pushes some serious air for a 12". I will be buying a matching speaker very soon.
