"Another Pallette of Colors For my Muse... LMAO"

It took over a year, but I finally bought it and I can't imagine my board without it. Despite what I've read elsewhere, I can go down to Low E on my my bass and the pedal works fine, however I do recommend a short scale bass and/or a boost or compression pedal. I did find the pedal was not able to keep up with faster player, but it may be that I use it with a bass instead of guitar. I have used it with an electric piano to pleasant results. I have even experimented with a vocal mic for interesting textures. Sometimes, instead of using it for pads and orchestrated parts, I used it like it was another filter or modulation pedals. With experimentation, you can get some great textures. Definitely a keepah!
Sound
It reminds me of the tones I remember from the old prog records I used to listen to in high school. I find it responds better to slow, deliberate playing, It fits well with my blend of post-metal, doom, southern stoner metal, and experimental projects. You need to experiment with this pedal and find out what tones work for you. Again recommend using it like any other filter/modulation pedal you have in your chain. Works well with other pedals, too.
Features
I experimented with different instruments, and found that the pedal could accommodate the full range of my short-scale six string Schecter, but not my vintage Yamaha piano.
Ease of Use
Start with setting all controls at 12 o' clock and the voices knob at #1 and experiment!
Quality
The metal case is solid. The black print on white paint is striking and evokes the Mellotron feel. One of the more solid pedals I have.
Value
This pedal is worth the value you put into it. It is another palette of colors for my muse.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to contact the company yet.
The Wow Factor
The Mel9 allows me to create sounds I cannot get with my bass alone, and without additional hardware.

"Inspiring once you dial it in"

I bought this pedal and crossed my fingers, while I'v had good experiences with EHX products I didn't have any experience with any of their organ simulators, I have a micro POG on my board and in my opinion It has the best tracking and sound of any of the octave type pedals I'v tried, that being said buying the Mel9 was the only way to see if it could work in my live set up. I play heavy blues with a multiple amp set up and pedal board real estate is precious, I bought this pedal in hopes of running it through a Marshall super lead that is set up just at the edge of breakup. It took a bit of tweaking to start to figure out what worked for me, this pedal does not sound great at just any setting you really have to take the time to dial it in for your own set up but once I found the parameters within which the pedal sounded good it was really inspiring to play and I instantly started working on not only new material but also on how to fit it into my bands already existing songs. A couple of things to consider if you are reading this is that you will probably need an amp with a good amount of head room set to be relatively clean, to me the pedal does not sound good with distortion or fuzz before or after it but when you get it just right it really brings a sweet new dimension to a guitar riff, Iv had this a couple of months now and I would say It's a keeper.

"Works on bass guitar - sort of"

By "sort of", I mean it works better on one of my basses than it does on the others. I tried it with a Squier VM Jazz bass with D'Addario EXL165 strings, and it works down to open A, though sometimes messes up. On an Ibanez SR300L with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt Flats, and an SX Ursa 1 with D'Addario Black Nylon Tapewounds, pretty much the same. But, with a Douglas Sculptor 5 (5 strings), it works all the way down to D on the B string! According to the manufacturer, it's only supposed to work down to the open A string. Why it works better on the 5 string bass, I have no idea. I have D'Addario EXL strings on that, hoping if I put on Cobalt Flats that it will still work as well. I saw a demo video on YouTube where it also worked down to low D, the guy in that video had a 6 string bass. It's weird, it seems to prefer 5 and 6 string basses. I guess I'm keep my 5 string bass! Some sounds on the Mel9 sound better than others, but the Cello sounds pretty good to me, that's why I got this anyway, so I'm happy. This pedal is better for guitar I guess, but I'm happy with it anyway. In general, it sounds better if I mix in some "dry" bass too, gives it more bottom end.

Sounds good but it does not sound like it does in the videos or demos. The main problem is the slight delay from when you hit the strings to when you hear the sound from the pedal. In that it kills and kind of playing that isn't slow. While it does sound good it isn't worth the price. I'm very serious when I say try one out first before you buy it

it does not sound like any of the videos that i watched. i tried direct to the mixer, through a preamp, through a guitar amp, added compression, delay, reverb.it all sounded like a cheap kids keyboard.tracking was great. no problems at all. the sounds .....were just like a $19.95 casio.
