Seems to me the 44 Magnum gives 4 watts of good amplification and an additional 40 watts of hiss and blasting noise--the so-called "saturation"--for a total of 44 watts as advertised. For my use, any setting above 11 o'clock is just too noisy, not at all like a musical overdrive should be. Anyway, I am going to keep the 44 Magnum because it is usable as a low-power amplifier into a 15" speaker cabinet for use with pedals in the recording studio.
