I have owned and gigged on damn near every combo available. Mesa, Markbass, Fender, Aguilar, so and so forth. Now do the others "sound" better? I'd say thats a personal preference, but when I say this is the "best" its the total of everything listed in the following review.
Sound
Sound wise I would say this rig is VERY clean. Clean in the gain sense as well as the amp provides. The preamp is very transparent which gives you the true sound of your instrument. If you have basses that have a unique vibe, this amp will deliver it in its most unadulterated form. When I say deliver, I mean it. The output this thing provides is insane. In most rehearsal situations I would say its uncommon to ever have the volume over 2 at the absolute most.
Features
Features I would say the biggest things are the double port and onboard compressor. Otherwise, its a straight forward combo in the features department.
Ease of Use
Set it flat and dial it in from there. A good tone is almost guarnteed right out of the box.
Quality
This thing is built like a tank. It comes with a dust cover as well, so that will help keep dirt and dust out of the controls while not in use.
Value
For the price this thing is a beast. Well worth the moderate price tag.
Manufacturer Support
The only downside about EBS is they are a little slow to respond if you reach out to them directly, but Ive found distributors and sellers of their products have more direct contacts so thats not a huge concern.
The Wow Factor
The big thing with this combo is not needing to be concerned about if it will be enough for a gig. Ive played outside gigs with no PA and this thing still cuts through without having to crank the volume. It seems like it has a never ending supply of headroom without compormosing the tone. Truly amazing.
