I purchased the MXR Joshua right here at zZounds.com. I have been playing guitar over 30 years. I am a professional amateur guitar player. I love U2. I was so excited about this pedal. When I received it I noticed there was no manual and I thought I could wing it on the settings. Nope. I couldn’t find a sound I liked. The voice which sounds essentially like an organ was too overwhelming. The Mod was way too wobblie. It was terrible. I finally decided to return it. Then I realized I didn’t read the manual. I knew there had to be more to this pedal. I love U2. I figured it would sound like the Edge with all knobs at noon. Not the case for me. I downloaded the manual from MXR. I then learned the Advanced Settings. Then I really saw what this pedal can do. Adjusting the Hi cut helps the Voice octave sound helped blend it more and adjusting the modulation depth by holding down Echo 2 and adjusting the Mod knob counterclockwise for less depth or clockwise for more. Then I discovered the dip switch on the side to change the 2nd input jack to allow a second amp. Then you need to put it in Stereo mode and that’s where this pedal really shines. Having the stereo output. I think you’re going to love this pedal and it’s very diverse in what you can do. Learn the Advanced Settings before you receive it so you’re ready. I absolutely love this pedal now that I know how to use it. It drives my creativity and sometimes I will break out into the Edge sound. This pedal is a hit. I would recommend it for sure.

This being a digital delay; it won't instantly jump into self oscillation. Right there this leaves analog delay pedals in the dust. I tried adding it to my 5 way daisy chain 9 volt wall adapter connected to my Pedaltrain Nano Pedalboard and it made a whistling noise in my signal chain. This pedal requires a proper isolated power supply, which I haven't got around to buying because I'm more inclined to buy pedals themselves. I tried changing out a p-90 guitar for a guitar with humbuckers and removing and adding other pedals. This still needed to be connected to an isolated power supply. As a standalone pedal it's dead silent. The mod dial offers a blendable octave effect which can either sound like the Earthquaker Devices Organizer or a mild shimmer reverb. Its two buttons are red and blue LED back-lit. The Echo 2 button creates a secondary delay overdub, to its right the Trails button creates an optional decay length. The Edge from U2 used a Korg delay pedal which was as big as a Boss ME-50 pedal. This is the first modern digital delay pedal sized in the smaller MXR sized enclosure designed to fit todays pedalboards. It has all the features of the previous larger pedalboards. You get adjustable tempos/subdivisions. Again if you plan on adding this to your pedalboard, you're going to need an isolated power supply. MXR Joshua doesn't come with an instruction manual. -There are a lot of MXR Joshua demo tutorials on youtube that show us how to dial in all the features like tap tempo, the 'Mod effect, the way the 'Regen dial sets the amount of delay repeats, everything you'll need to know about how to use it
