"RATES 10 AS A RELIABLE And DURABLE EFFECTS PEDAL"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I've had one for about 2 years and just purchased my second here today as a back up and for using an effect for guitar. It's a great product.
Sound
I use the effects pedal for bass and guitar. I like the programmable features. You can modify a model then move it to an earlier number rank for easy access. I can't possibly use them all, but what I use works great. With 80 models though you can find something you like or close to it and then tweek it to your perfection.
I have 2 Violin basses and an Ibanez SR500. I've also used the BP80 with my acoustic, strat and jazz guitar. I have 2 Ampeg bass amps, a Pignose battery powered practice amp and a Crate battery powered acoustic amp.
Features
A real nice feature is you can use battery or power supply on the BP80. If I'm using a battery powered amp or I need a back up power source this is a great feature.
It is made mostly of plastic and I had to tweek the pedal once but I've had it for two years. It got soak in a down pour once, but it still works like yesterday.
I wish there was an easier way to get to the clean mode without having to simultaneously pressing two foot switches at the same time.
Ease of Use
It's fairly easy to use. There is a little learning curve if you've never played Game Boy, used a computer or programmed a TV. The manual is fairly simple to understand.
Quality
I've used it for almost two years and purchased it used. One short coming is that playing outside in the sun makes the display almost impossible to read. I keep my models numbered 1 thru 5 so it's not usually a problem.
Value
Probably worth the usual marked down price.
Manufacturer Support
I've had no need to.
The Wow Factor
It's an effects pedal. I just step on it. If that's sexy well it's a 10 then.

"Don't waste your money on better looking units, this is the ultimate sound shaping tool."
A loop station is the only missing ingredient. I might upgrade to a different model just for that feature. But it will cost a whole lot more than this baby did, and it's already paid for itself ten times over.
Sound
This thing is great, and the price is incredible. It is extremely versatile, if you take the time to learn the deep editing features to create your own presets you can rock the house night after night - when I'm getting dead spots I can easily add compression to whatever effect I am using and store it as a new preset - if I'm not happy with the "house" sound I can use amp modelling to fatten things up. When the house sound man says "that bass was kickin!" you'll see what I mean.
Features
Only a loop station could make this thing better.
Ease of Use
The manual is perfect. Easy to adjust to your taste.
Quality
Looking at the unit I thought "You get what you pay for" but after owning it for over a year now I am amazed at the ruggedness and value.
Value
Can't beat the value this thing offers.
Manufacturer Support
The fact that it has worked perfectly under heavy abuse and never failed means I have never needed support, therefore top scores her too.
The Wow Factor
It doesn't look like much, in fact it looks cheap. But if you want to look good, go buy yourself a guitar. If you want to sound good, you won't go wrong with one of these.

"Great Pedal Great price"
Verified Customer

I like it a lot I will keep it around and since I am not a huge effects user I will probably never upgrade or replace it. I am going to add a crybaby and a big muff but that is only because when using effects those are the two that I use the most. If your a beginner or a pro you will like this unit. It also acts as a direct box in a sense so if your playing a gig you can just pack this thing with your guitar and have a drink while watching your other band memebers lug in heavy equipment.
I have recently started playing and focusing a lot on guitar so I am probably going to buy the same effect that is built for guitar.
Sound
pretty good sound havn't played around with creating my own effects much yet but was trying to program the wah and accidently saved a new preset that makes my rig sound better than ever. I like the tuner it works well and when you bypass the unit there is no effect on your sound! So when I turn it off its off that is a huge benefit. It is easy to set the out put so when adding an effect your volume doesn't change. Its a little small though using the expression pedal can be challenging but its not that big of a deal.
Features
The effects are cool some of them for my style are worthless. The tuner works very well and is pretty responsive. Its a great priced unit that will give you all the effects you thought about buying seperately but probably wouldn't use. I still plan on buying a Big Muff distortion and a Crybaby, but this will fit right in. It has plenty of features and for someone who just likes to play with effects its more than enough.
Ease of Use
so far its pretty easy to use, Its not too complicated and I like that because I would rather spend my time playing and not programming. right out of the box you get 40 great effects and then 40 programmable ones.
Quality
its not metal which worries me when I take it to practice because my guitar player will likely step on it. After that happens I will let you know. So far though I havn't had any problems with it. I gave it a 9 because I wish it was a metal chasis. Seems relliable, comes with a power source so that is good because I don't need to spend money on batteries.
Value
its a great value. If your like me and your looking for some effects to mess around with or to add a little tone to your rig you can't go wrong, its not fancy and you get a lot of effects that you can use or just mess around with. Its small so if you linking it with other pedals your not going to take up much room. I would recomend it to anyone.
Manufacturer Support
checked out website seemed nice,I havn't used them, So I will give them a 10 to give them the benefit of the doubt. First unit I bought was at guitar center since I had a gift card there, got it home and it was broken, took it back and so far so good.
The Wow Factor
Well so far my wife hasn't hinted that it is making me look sexier. The unit in my opiion is kind of plain looking it doesn't really look that cool and can sort of look cheap. But plug it in and you will change your mind.. its like me doesn't look that good but sounds great so we are a perfect fit.

"get what you pay for"
it's not bad for the price but don't expect it to hold up forever it's nice to have, i don't regret buying it but it would be nice to have something nicer, higher quality, more versatile, more durable, but i suppose that's what you get for $100
Sound
the sound is pretty good on most of the effects, of which there are a ton, sometimes the expression pedal will give out or not respond which can get really frustrating but when it's working the sound is the best thing about it
Features
there are a tone of features and it does pretty much everything you'd expect it to and how much you are able to change some of the effects is really nice
Ease of Use
playing with it is pretty nice but the expression pedal does give out sometimes and after using mine for a while it doesn't respond if you have it all the way forward and then change effects it plays as if the pedal was all the way to the heel side, the bypass is a little inconvenient but changing effects is just fine, but editing them is impossible without the book with you.
Quality
the pedal itself is pretty junky it'y just a bunch of plastic so it's not going to hold up forever
Value
the pedal is really cheap so it's not necessarily a bad buy but know that you're going to get what you pay for, it's not very durable but the sound is good
Manufacturer Support
i haven't used the tech support yet
The Wow Factor
it's a pretty ugly pedal, it more or less looks like a plastic piece of junk which isn't too far from the truth, technically it's not bad but aesthetically it's ot impressive at all

"Evaluate What You Really Want. Then Buy."
im glad I bought it.
Sound
The sound is mostly solid. You get use to it. nice tone on most effects. some just dreadful noise.
Features
the effect editing system could be tweaked a little more. some effects seem too similiar. the bypass bugs me. and so does the gate pedal. but yet agian, you get use to it.
Ease of Use
Yeah its not that hard. you have your gate pedal, two bypasses, and edit buttons. the edit system can be tricky for certain people. the saving system needs work.
Quality
Its Plastic. it'll break sooner than later. the bypasses are too clunky for my liking. would break if it fell a couple feet. better off with something more sturdy.
Value
you really have to evaluate what you want.
Manufacturer Support
only a 30 day warrenty since Digitech knows it not great quality. but its worked so far but i've had some near death experiences with it (it being broken). havent needed the tech support yet. if i do i'll go buy something better.
The Wow Factor
its blue clunky plastic. Not Sexy.

"BEST PEDAL EVER USED!!!!!!"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
huge range of hugely varied effects as opposed to some other pedals that are out there. this pedal needs no changing, it's the perfect tool for someone wanting to highten their musical knowledge (also it's just plain fun to use).
Features
all the effects are suited to a particular style of playing which makes it compatible with most bass players. The only thing i wish it had which it didn't is a sampler so as alot of other pedals do. If this minor flaw was fixed , to me, this would be the perfect pedal
Quality
unlike alot of other multi-effect pedals this is not only very robust but stylish aswell which is hard to come by.
Value
the price is very reasonable
Manufacturer Support
no problems with it so i didn't need support.
