I bought this Charvel and and a PRS SE at the same time to compare, Same price range. PRS is great for looks, Charvel is great for tone. Both play great. Mexico Vs Korea. Both are above expectations. Both are TOP QUALITY for price. This Charvel guitar TRULY sounds awesome and feels amazing. OUT OF THE BOX... feels Fender-y. PRS looks and feels almost perfect OOTB also. REPLACE Charvel STRINGS... factory strings are GARBAGE. PRS has better setup out of the box.First of all... TO HELL with tremolo bridge... hard tail all the way! Bend without fear of detune. SIMPLE, Who really uses tremolo 99% of the time. Couldn't find a PRS hard tail that I liked. Charvel bridge is quality and solid.Charvel has SD Pickups that are TOP quality, they sound vintage but better. ALL THE TONES. CRUNCH, SPANK, WARMTH (BRIDGE MIDDLE NECK). Use-able satisfying tones. PRS SE PUs are Chinese junk, barely usable.Charvel has unfinished smooth neck, great hardware, good electronics. Charvel lockers are a little clunky. PRS non locking tuners are smoother.LOOKS & SOUND & VALUE:Compared to PRS SE, the sound of Charvel is 100% better. Feel is different, but both nice. Charvel Looks are basic, plain, compared to PRS fancy finish. PRS SE needs new PUs and electronics to compare to the sound of Charvel. PRS comes with gig bag. Charvel no case.Charvel frets are really big, to the point of making rough slides... PRS has perfect frets. Both necks are comparable to high end stuff. Both have smooth edges... Charvel has rolled fret edges.I returned the PRS and I kept the Charvel... Charvel is a guitar for life with real purpose and use within creative process and it delivers what I want to hear. PRS is a pretty face that needs a certain kind of player to embrace. If you started with PRS then you like it... if you started with Gibson/Fenders, then PRS is a weird hybrid, but Charvel feels familiar. Charvel is: strap on and have fun instantly, all the tones you want. PRS is: acquired taste, great looks.
