"The Star is the ultimate shape, a genius radical move by Wayne Charvel to cut a V in the back of an Explorer type body... I hope"

It got me too much attention and ultimately I was robbed of it on Santa Monica Blvd after playing a jazz/blues club at 3AM and (stupid) stopping to wait for a Bus (if I'd kept on steppin' I'd still have it, it wasn't worth getting stabbed)!
Sound
First I got this and the Jackson Reverse base model Strat (MFb) together at Guitar Center on Sunset, and swapped the necks- gave the strat away and then I tricked this out with Hybrid strings 9.5 12 17 26 38 52 and used a Low output (8.5 K) Bridge F-spaced PAF and a Vol w/treble retainer circuit, with a killswitch and changed the Jack to the strat type and this thing was my favorite for years playing around LA! I highly recommend the Star shape especially when it's neck light/ body heavy, there's just something about the symmetry that's balanced and all accessible -and just so0 much fun!
Features
Simple Single Pickup single pot and a Trem, love the Maple fingerboard sustain and string response on the fret, the jack is for the bent type cable-end and I like the angled jack on the edge better. I also moved the strapknob locations for better access and overall positioning.
I'd like to see these bodies made 2" thick and have a les paul type roundtop and angled joining, maybe some contouring into bevels?
Ease of Use
This seemed to play itself and delivered a wide range of tones -but you could really get into the struggle with it if you wanted, TOUGH and WOW could it growl and sizzle! Everything from Beautiful to Bad it was there and all on one Pot. If it had another pickup it'd have to be a singlecoil size in the Neck, there's some rail-type lil hum ones that'll double as higher frets!
Quality
It needed alot of wrenching and adjusting but came out great, I had to edge the frets and would go so far as to say it is worth the refret with Stainless! As a 'upgrade as you go' instrument this was my favorite!
Value
I got mine on sale or as an introductory offer for only $250! So yeah good deal, you could hardly beat that getting it in parts!
Manufacturer Support
Never had a problem except knowledge-ability, but they've always met me half the way, if I could explain it they were helpful!
The Wow Factor
I can sell these for a grand apiece when I'm done making a conversion out of it -but it costs the parts and I make very little but get the experience and pass that on to the buyer -as it's about perfect when I'm done with a setup! It's a very good feeling sharing the power of Harmony!
