I have been running Pro Tools but it was time for an upgrade. For the price Pro Tools wanted for an upgrade and iLok key I was able to purchase Cakewalk Producer with more functions, plug ins and an easier to run program and saved money. I am happy with my choice. The next CD is being recorded now!

"Sonar has arrived ... finally."

"Overall: I have owned several versions of Cakewalk since way before it became Sonar, was only a MIDI sequencer, and ran on Windows v3.1... circa '92 was it? When it became Sonar, it turned into a massive pain in the ... neck and remained that way until this X3 version. I've used many DAWs (including the ever ubiquitous Pro Tools) and when it comes to detailed functions and capabilities as well as amazing quality mastering tools/VSTs, Sonar takes the blue ribbon ... if you are willing to take the time and endure the pain necessary to learn how to use it to the max, It does everything, and now, it does it rather well without nearly any of the past hyper-complaining about everything, bugs to no end, and more crashes than your average dirt track rider. These days, I pair X3 up with Reason via Rewire. Each is an incredible complement to the other, all the bases are covered, and nothing is missing or lacking. X3 for mixing automation and mastering effects, Reason for a massive list of synths, samples, loops, and effects possibilities. Learning Sonar is very difficult as the help documentation has always been, and still is, cryptic at best compared to any other DAW, but it does so much more. If you are looking for the most capability look no further. My advice? Sonar X3 and Reason 7, together on a powerful computer. Incredible!"
