I've been using lots of amps and gear for over twenty years and this is one of the biggest no-brainers I've ever come across. For anyone out there that might have doubts about these amps I would suggest you check out the Bugera website and look at the continually growing list of musicians and significant professionals that are now using these. I never imagined I'd give any product all 10's, but no bull to me this head really deserves it. As a guitarist in Hollywood who plays regularly I don't see any reason to use anything else now and I expect to use this for a long time. I'm also starting to notice these amps popping up in clubs around Hollywood and L.A. The secret is out!
Sound
This amp pretty much rivals anything out there soundwise, and even though it seems to have been designed mainly for hard rock or metal it can easily be used for literally any type of music there is, in my opinion. The tone is beautiful and warm, the eq is very lively and it's super quiet, even with some of my Boss pedals in the effects loop. The clean channel is gorgeous but the distortions are where this thing really will amaze you. Full, rich, focused and articulate distortion that can go anywhere from mild pop rock to the most extreme death metal there is, and all at punishing volume!
Features
It has everything you would need in a modern professional level tube head, with the added bonus of a noise gate on the distortion channels. The reverb is another good feature. Reverb seems to be a touchy thing with some people. Some will love it, others might not, but I think it sounds very good on this head. There's an impedance switch which is handy, a line out, and for those who are tech savvy you can switch out the stock EL34's and put in 6L6's if you wanted to with the bias switch and adjuster.
Ease of Use
Pretty simple to me, just plug in, dial in your sound and rock out! I don't think any guitarist at any level would have a hard time with this.
Quality
One would guess that this is the area where the amp would fall short, but I've found this thing to be very well built and strongly put together. The guitar and effects loop inputs are plastic, but to me that's no big deal. The knobs have a very slightly loose feel, but again it's not an issue with me. I don't beat up any of my equipment so I'm not worried about it. I've owned this for about 8 months and I've had to replace a couple of tubes that blew, but other than that it's been a hard rocking workhorse.
Value
It's ALOT of amp for the money....mind boggling really. The features to cost ratio is just out of whack...it SHOULD cost double. From here on out anyone who spends thousands of dollars for the "name" brands is wasting their money. This is my #1 amp in my rig now.
The Wow Factor
Aesthetically it's a really nice looking boutique head. I don't know if any amp has "sex appeal" but to me it does have a cool look, especially with the lights and the tube glow inside when it's in use. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the sound is really the most important thing, but I'd have to say it looks great.

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Overall rating, I give it a 8. It probably should be a 7 or 6 and it would be rated that if it cost me 1500.00 or more. I can give a little. I hope you liked my review, if not, read another or do something else, if you're put off by it, you must be doing the wrong activity and need to chill. If you liked my review and have the money, why not, go ahead and get one, you will love it. If not, you can send it back, check zzounds policy its great and their cust service is just as good. I got a (different brand) amp that was defective (new from ZZOUNDS). Before I even packed up the defective amp, ZZOUNDS sent a replacement overnight. It got there the next morning. This may or may not be standard practice, read thier policies. Yes, I sent the defective amp back. Zzounds paid for everything. This is why I buy exclusively from Zzounds if they have the item I want, the other dealers online (the giants) have good return policies if you keep the item in NEW condition, but they don't send you out a replacement overnight before getting the defective item. I know, I used to purchase from MF (for 20 years). Big deal? In this case yes it was a BH-5H which at the time was on backorder, I had waited a month, if I had to send the defective amp back first, I would have missed out and had to wait another month to get a replacement, or however long it would have taken to get more in stock. Get it? Thanks to Zzounds I had a replacement overnight. Thanks to Bugera my amp was fixed in 4 days. In 20 years I have never had this great of service. I know who to buy from in the future.
Sound
I decided to give my quick review of this amp because I do own it, I like it a lot, I have had problems with it, buy would buy it again if I needed to and there are so many bogus reviews and haters of this amp and there is a good reason for it. ITS SOUND - I had bought a ENGL Fireball a year before buying this amp and after 20+ years of playing hardcore punk, speed metal and hard metal (in bands and in clubs) I happened upon this Bugera 333 (I got the XL). The sound of this amp is so good it rivals amps, well, put it this way, you could buy 5 or 6 of these Bugera's for the price of the amps it rivals, and that is one reason you see so much jealousy online. I don't play my ENGL anymore, not that the ENGL was 5 times as much, I didn't say that. To recheck that, I said the AMP RIVALS AMPS THAT COST 5 or 6 times as much money IN SOUND. SOUND. By the way, compare the controls on this amps front panel to the new PEAVEY 3120 'hi gain' amp of 2009. Now we know which peavey design was copied huh? Its the 333 not the Bugera 333XL and costs a grand. You can get a Bugera 333 for less than half that.
Features
Features, the amp has a lot of features, its got three solid channels with LOW MED AND HIGH EQ for EACH CHANNEL which is great. My 2 channel ENGL that cost 2x as much (and sounds great) does not have separate EQ for its 2 channels, so there you go, a real world example. However the noise gate which only comes on the 333XL versions is really non existent if you are used to the "slamming" of a real gate for hi gain guitar like a rack mount HUSH by rocktron or equivalant. IT works well with the clean channel and somewhat with the 2nd channel which is more overdrive than gain, and the noise gate doesn't do very much with the 3rd hi gain channel. But it helps if you're not running the channel 3 gain wide open which I do, in that case the noise gate does little. The 333XL also has REVERB and it is for all the channels. One knob type deal, it sounds great. The reverb does work and is good if not better than most fender reverbs if you like them, they are notorious, someone likes the sound of Fender reverb. To ME that is what the reverb is like. The XL also has a presence, not sure if that is on the 333, I don't own one, it sounds good if kept below 2 oclock positon, over that its too much. I try to use treble and little presence. But like Pablo Gilberto, I do like presents for you gilbert fans. Hi. This amp shreds.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use this amp and easy to dial in a sound. The effects loop has separate knobs for level for the in and out, a feature usually found on much more expensive amps. How many 500 dollar all tube heads can you name that sound good, have high gain and level settings for the send and return. On top of that it is 3 channels. You can't go wrong with this amp but read on, important.
Quality
OK a lot of people compalin these amps are not reliable. I have to admit, I had mine fail. HOWEVER, it is a simple wire modification that BUGERA paid for entirely, was done by a excellent repair shop and with shipping time and shipping cost, it cost me nothing and took a total of 4 days. How is that for customer service. They are totally cool and answer emails in about a hour or 2 or 3, In MY EXPERIENCE. and no I don't work for bugera. I wouldn't work in music at all, it would ruin the fun of playing guitar for me. If you don't understand that you are probably young and you're not me. So lets move on. I gave quality a 5 because it broke down, and I gave cust service a 10 which, by the way, I don't give out 10's on any amp full across the board. I have never heard the perfect amp. Usually that happens when someone has a new piece of gear. Yes you read this somewhere else, I wrote it. Also, and most important the amp was fixed correctly.
Value
I give value a 9 and you may think that is bogus because the amp failed but thats tuff. No, just kidding, are you mad yet! Really, the amp failed because of a simple wiring problem that is a design flaw but hey, its the amps first year, its a 120 watt amp, its all tube, those parts are going to get cooked a little and remember, I don't play jazz, I run it wide open. The amp has been fine since, 'modified' I will call it. But it was repaired. Its a really fun amp to play through man does it crank like a muther. It is hot and loud. Harmonics, and fast sweeps, it has depth, bass, tightness and hot gain without any buzzsaw, its all tube saturation. I love it and I not selling it because it failed. I am keeping it because its fixed. It was fixed faster than I could have carted off myself and I ddin't have to do anything but put it in a box and make a phone call to UPS to pick it up. Didn't cost me a penny for any of the repair. I have never heard of that on a tube amp repair. Most people complain and do without thier amp months with other brands/situations. The amp had to be shipped out of state and took 4 days to come back repaired. Good job Behringer/Bugera. Yes, Bugeras are distributed by Behringer and warranty is through Behringer. I could care less who does it if they do it in 4 days. And I could care less what name is on my amp, its the sound coming out, and the fact it costs so little, I am really happy thus far. Tomorrow it could fail. But customer service is so good, I am not worried.
Manufacturer Support
They are great, they pay for things and are super fast (4 days total) see quality above.
The Wow Factor
This question asks me to rate 'the sex appeal' of this particular amplifier. Fast Cars look cool and so do guitars and amps but I don't want to ***** them or find them sexy. And they sure don't make me look any sexier. This question needs to find another website entirely.

As long as it lasts,I will always have this amp.
Sound
I've had this amp for three weeks and have been able to conjure up every sound I can possibly think of,from fendery clean to EVH brown sound to all out Slayer vs Lamb of God grind your boot in hell distortion. This thing loves pedals.I plug my telecaster with Duncan STL vintage pickups into a modded TS9 tube screamer, then into a digitech crossroads, then into a seven band EQ pedal into the clean channel and nail the Brown Sound.Or I plug an Ibanez 520QM with Duncan Dave Mustaine Livewire Pickups into a Rocktron Zombie Rectified Dist.into a seven band EQ pedal into the clean channel and pray the police don't kick my door down. One of the coolest things about this amp is that you can turn up the knobs on the effects loop(even with nothing pluged into it)and when you engage the loop button you get a big fat sound boost.I am getting ready to swap out the stock tubes with a matched quad of Tungsol EL34s as well as 12AX7s(also Tungsol)I've heard that on these amps it will improve the sound 100%(as if it did'nt sound good enough already).I can only imagine how much better it will sound.Don't waste your money on a triple rectifier, for the price you could buy three of these and still have a few bucks leftover for tubes.
Features
This amp comes with a well made footswitch(four button)which control each channel as well as the effects loop/boost.Amps costing three to four times more don't come with a footswitch. The only thing it does'nt activate is the reverb, but who cares?Three channels, clean, crunch and lead, high and low gain imputs(for both high output and vintage pickups, but you can use either or however you choose to plug in and get different sounds.XL switches for both dist.channels to add more bottom end and change tone slightly, noise gate to quiet down some of those effect pedals,a presence control to match the frequency response of different speaker cabinets,a line level output with a volume control to slave other amps or hook up to other equipment,an ohm selector switch enabling the use of almost any kind of speaker cabinet, and last but not least,a bias switch which allows you to use either EL34 or 6L6 power tubes(sweet!)although I would not suggest that you try and swap out the tubes yourself(the amp and tubes both have to be measured on a bias meter for proper adjustment, not to mention the amp contains LETHAL voltage even when unplugged for years.)Don't cook your amp or yourself.Send it to an amp tech.
Ease of Use
As complicated as this amp looks, you don't have to have an engineering degree to use it.You should be able to get great sounds out of it within just a couple of minutes(just read the directions, they're simple enough)
Quality
This amp is built pretty solid,It's not made out of a block of steel and it was'nt designed for military use,but if you try to take somewhat care of it then quite possibly it will last for years, unless your goal is to emulate Kurt Cobain and Keith Moon to the fullest on stage and money is no object. But for the price it would'nt be the biggest loss of your life.
Value
excellent. What more could you ask for?
Manufacturer Support
have'nt had to deal with them yet(knock on wood)and I hope I never do.
The Wow Factor
It does look kind of like a JSX clone but you could always remove the chrome covers on the front(they come off very easy without leaving a trace of ever being there)and reinstall them later if you change your mind, but in my opinion it looks much better without them.

"Awesome amp!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
By this amp, you won't regret it.
Sound
The cleans on this thing are amazing, there so warm and rich, it sounds so vintage, i really like it, especially with the reverb on. The crunch gives you a really nice warm vintage sound to, if you bring the bass up a little bit and turn the treble down. The lead channel is amazing. I have the treble way up and the bass down more, with reverb on it, it sounds amazing for solos. Really searing and shreddy, or turn the bass up a little bit and it's great for really heavy sounding rythym parts. I also like the boost setting. It really gives it a fuller sound, and i have the volume up to, so it makes just a little bit louder, but when i turn that on, you can feel it. It shakes you, especially if your playing some really low stuff.
Features
The footswitch is awesome. It's really sturdy and easy to use (what footswitch isn't?) The different colored lights make it easier to tell what channel your on to. The noise gate doesn't really do too much, it makes a pretty big difference on the low hum you hear on lead channel if your not playing anything, but that's about it. The xl switch doesn't do too much either, you can hear a little boost but again, that's about it.
Ease of Use
It's really easy to set this amp up just how you want it, just plug it in, give it a minute or two to warm up, and your ready to go. Easy to switch between channels, easy to set the channels up how you want them, and it even remembers your settings when you switch off of it. If you switch channels and the reverb is on, when you switch back it will still be on, no annoying buttons to hold down or anything.
Quality
This seems like a really sturdy product to me. I haven't played it loud yet, just been in my house so far, and i have it as quiet as i can get it. So i don't really know if it vibrates or anything, but it feels like it will hold up to anything. I also got the bugera slanted cabinet, and it seems really sturdy to, and the wheels on the corner make it pretty easy to transport.
Value
This thing is as good as a marshall, and only half the price, i would be willing to pay a lot more than they have it at now. I think the reason it's so low is that bugera is new at making amps so they aren't well known enough to charge a lot for the name. Or there's a hidden problem no one has discovered yet, but i hope not.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to deal with them, which is always the sign of a great product.
The Wow Factor
This thing looks really good, simple and sleek. It looks even better with the bugera cab.

"Its not as bad as its reputation give it a try"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I'm going to leave this as it is a 10 over all my thoughts are as follow this is a boutique amp truly hand wired 120watts of tube tone and if well cared for and operated properly it will last out the test of time, how long? I give the power tubes likely 8 months and thats a fair assumption based on modern day tubes, and the more I play the more time I expect to be taken from the life expectancy of the tubes these amps come with, this amp and it brothers and sisters of the Bugera name have gotten a lot of bad press I suspect from people who really don't know their gear that well and doing what I did leaving the amp in standby for extended periods of time causing cathode poisoning in the tubes etc. So my advice get to know your gear and what it can and can't do tubes don't last forever expect to be replacing them most of the time all the troubles with a tube amp can be traced to the tubes themselves. And this can happen to the best of amplifiers.
Sound
Well to sum it all up sound to price this is a ten for those on a budget it a far cry from the other amp I was using but that amp is no where in the ball park of the 333XL,other than to say its the same price as the Bugera,my other tube amp is a Carvin X100B. i can tweak this amp to any style of music I want to play, which is good as I play anything from country to hard core high gain stuff so it fit the bill in tone. I gave this a 9 because I believe 6L6 tubes would likely make it sound sharper than the EL34's it loaded with, but it still sound good.
Features
This amp has all the appointments of some of the more pricier amps one thing I'd like to harp on and the reason that I'll give this area a 10 is the built in BIAS pot and multi meter test port making it easy for the owner to change their own tubes and set the BIAS on them after doing so,the instructions for doing this can be found on the Bugera web page. Warning this is a dangerous procedure if you have never done it leave it to a tech, but for those who know how this is a nice feature.
Ease of Use
I give this a 9 because it doesn't seem to me that there's enough detail given in the owners manual about certain things like shutting the amp off and the reverb situation the spokes person on youtube made it sound like you couldn't change channels and automatically have the reverb on the next channel. Well this isn't so when you turn the amp on go through all the channels turn it on the switch to the next channel hit the reverb button then go to what ever channel you want to and you have the reverb there, but it has no control to turn it on or off on the foot pedal.
Quality
I give this a 9,and if it were a Peavey I'd still give it a 9 there's always room for improvement on anything and this is not to say this amp is not built to last there have been many people writing bad reviews of this particular amp but I've read more positive than negative I have only found one thing that is a quirk with mine it wants to pop loud when I turn it off with the XL mid boost buttons engaged. The fix is simple just turn them off before you turn the amp off.
Value
Well as I said this amp is hard to beat as far as value,at the time I bought it which was January 2009 the only tube amp I could find in its price range is the Carvin X100B this amp comes without a foot pedal for changing channels or turning the reverb on and off its sold separately.
Manufacturer Support
I can't say anything about the support for this company I've read there is none I've not been in the position to need warranty service knock on wood. So I won't rate this part of the review.
The Wow Factor
I give this a 9 for the fact that I really don't find much as far as sex appeal in guitar amps its easy on the eyes and one thing about the appearance of this amp is physically being able to look in on your power tubes, not only can you hear that something is going wrong with your power tubes but most times you can visibly see it in the color that they glow.

"BUY THIS NOW!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm very happy with my purchase. The only thing that dissapointed me was lack of quality in the stock pre-amp tubes. Besides that, this is an absolutely killer amp and if (god forbid) anythign were to happen to mine, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. This is one of the best amps I've heard and had the pleasure to play on.
Sound
This thing sounds great. It's really huge sounding. You can get a really big, fat metal tone out of it which is exactly what I needed it for. Both distortion channels are great. The crunch channel can get a nice low to mid-gain tone which is good for volume roll-offs and some more classic-rock or earlier metal kinda stuff. But it can also get a pretty heavy tone by itself with the gain cranked. The lead channel just rains death. Way more gain than you will ever need (I have it at about 5 and that's almost pushing it :) ). Can do pretty much any kind of modern metal you throw at it. The clean channel is also very lush and big sounding. It doesn't break up really so you can get a nice, pure clean tone. The on-board reverb is also great. Just dialing the right amount really makes the cleans shine. All-in-all, this amp sounds absolutely fantastic for its price.
Features
The Bugera 333xl has just about all the features you'd need. It has three channels, each with seperate eq's, high and low-gain inputs, power and standby switches, effects loop/boost with level controls for send and return, line out, ect. Pretty much anything you would need on an amp head you have here. This one also has a presence knob and an 'XL' button that the 333 doesn't have which is a nice touch.
Ease of Use
This amp is all very easy to use which is great because I don't like having to decode the controls on my musical equipment. Everything does exactly what it says is going to do. One of my favorite parts of the amp is how sensitive the eq knobs are. When you turn them you can certainly hear the difference which is awesome. You can dial in many different sounds and tones here.
Quality
First and foremost, the amp looks fantastic. I know that doesnt affect the tone at all or anything but it sure is purrty. Everything was constructed and out together well. The only complaint I had was that the stock pre-amp tubes that were in it were absolute garbage. I was planning on swtiching shortly after buying anways but just the same, they weren't good at all. But after that was sorted out, this baby sings. I just wish Bugera would put some better grade tubes in there amps before selling them is all.
Value
This amp is definitely worth more than its asking price when compared to many other amps I've heard. Yea the preamp tubes weren't good but thats not a very expensive fix. Compared to many other 'boutique' amps it kills 'em for a fraction of the price.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to deal with them yet so I can't really say anything yet. I've heard good things about Bugera's customer service though.
The Wow Factor
As stated before, she looks purrrty.

Sound
Got this from ZZ a month ago.And also got the matching cab.I am 51 years old and been playing a long time.I own many amps as a I collect them also.I got one of the open box deals. The head came with one tube blown. But I had some spares here. The head sounds killer.Has a very creamy tone with the crunch channel.I like it better than my over price Engl and Marshall. How they can make it for this money is unreal. The noisegate is the only complaint I have.Does not work on all channels. But the sounds this amp makes 'and the cab sounds as good as my Marshall cab with vintage 30's is just hard to belive.Highly recommened.I can see no other amp touching these for the money.
Quality
Came with bad tube. But I did get a open box one and saved some cash.

"SORRY TONE SNOBS, BUGERA WINS!"

(see rating details)

No doubt I'm done buying amps now and I paid $600 bucks for it! It doesn't get better than that!
Sound
I say this as an ex-skeptic of this amp... I played my friends Mesa Boogie and this amp rivals it. It's not triple rectified but it sounds insanely good (with stock tubes!) I gambled when I bought this amp but I LOVE IT! I turned it to 2 and the front doors of the venue were shaking from 200+ feet away! This amo is KING
Features
It has very responsive EQs and separate volumes for all three channels and the footswitch comes with it! The reverb is great and can be set for each channel individually, and the built-in noisegate is very handy
Ease of Use
Like any tube amp, you have to experiment with it to get YOUR tone, but it's achievable no matter what your sound is. Turn it on, play it, and mess with it. It's that easy
Quality
They say it's very breakable, but it's not. It's rugged and sturdy. Don't buy into the stuff the people who payed $1,200 or more for their amp say. This is solid.
Value
You WON'T find anything close to the quality for the money! NOTHING!
Manufacturer Support
Never needed it... That a 10 in my book.

Looks amazing and sounds better! That's SEXY!

"This amp has a killer tube crunch, unmatched by few."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This is a tough subject because I was very satisfied with my Hughes & Kettner tube but bought this amp too. So, I don't ever plan on selling it unless I run into problems that are unresolved or not to my satisfaction.
Sound
The amp sounds thick. It has tremendous thick rich bass on the crunch. I have heard the amp compared to 5150 and Mesa, I'm not sure I would say that, because I don't have one near to compare. I have a 50 watt tube Ampeg Reverb Rocket with a 4/12 Ampeg cabinet and this blows that away. The clean is much nicer than a Marshall and the crunch is pretty close. The amp is very simple to set, plug it in and go. It also has one very cool feature that none of my other amps have, it allows you to change channels on the head or the peddle while the peddle is hooked up.
Features
The best feature is that it's three completely independent channels, with completely independent volume controls with a master volume to boost or decrease distortion and volume. And the presence control really goes from a crunchy dull sound to a crisp very sharp distortion.
Ease of Use
The product is very simple to use; however, I don't play effects through the amp so I can't say how friendly the effects will be?
Quality
I don't want to sound like I'm plugging the product, but the amp is seriously gorgeous. It has a polished chrome finish, that the glow of orange illuminates through. I also bought the Bugera 4/12 cabinet and it is designed very similar to the Marshall slant cabinet but much prettier. Very solid design, which was a concern considering no one has one in stock to view first hand prior to ordering.
Value
The price of the Amp was much less than any other head I've purchased: Ampeg, Hughes & Kettner and it blows the Ampeg away on value and matches the Hughes. So overall it's more than worth the money, price though is very subjective. Compared to most other amps, the Bugera is very much under priced. It's funny that it's in the price range of B52's and blows them away, sound and looks.
Manufacturer Support
I have dealt with Behringer on several purchases 2442 board, B212A speakers and 8500 microphones and they all work very well and sound great. Have owned all of them over 2 years no problems. Don't know about the Bugera amp as I've only owned it 5 days. Will let you know if I have a problem
The Wow Factor
The sex appeal is equal to Mesa. Pretty metal contrasting black, what more could you want. Much better looking than a Marshall.

"GET IT"

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
if this amp were lost or stolen I would have another the next day
Sound
WHERE DO I BEGIN?? This amp is amazing. Some people have reveiwed this amp as crunchy....crunchy is code for not enough gain in my opinion lol. This amp is it. Anywhere from Incubus to Killswitch to 311 to Keith Urban to Metallica to Manson to Albert Lee to Dream Theater to Steve Vai to Crossfade...I could keep going. This amp does it all. With a little EQing there is no sound you cant get.
Features
Ok I must admit...the Noise Gate...nothing nada zilch zip...but who cares thats nothing but an extra. The Boost (my favorite feature) works with all 3 channels so you basically have 6 amp channels. The reverb is nice. Hall reverb, just enough to smooth out your sound if its set on 3 or 4.
Ease of Use
If you know how to EQ, this amp should take about 30 minutes or less to set up.
Quality
The knobs are truthfully not the best made, but if you take care of your stuff this should be no problem. This is a nice looking amp though...wow. I have found that this a pretty solid made head and should last a very long time.
Value
for the money? if you try this amp and dont buy it... you my friend...are an idiot.
Manufacturer Support
no problems as of yet.

I've been playing Metal since the late 70's. With this amp I can dial in any tone from early Sabbath to Slayer. Crunch and Lead channels have amazing distortion, clean channel is also very nice.

Individual EQ for each channel, 4 button footswitch, XL switch gives low volume practice some bottom end. Effects loop, 4,8, and 16 ohm capable, lots of useful switches and knobs, very easy to use.
Ease of Use
very,very easy.
Quality
Looks good out of the box, only owned for a short period.
Value
Great value, I don't know the exact dollar amount I would be willing to pay, but if this one was stolen I would replace it.

Great amp for any price. I changed to 6l6 tubes & new preamp tubes also...major improvement. Having the right cabinet makes all the diff. as well. can do modded marshall tones and thick metal also. Sweet clean not quite fender but nice..
Features
Lots of bells...wish the reverb had a button on the footswitch.

Could be more solid. But if you dont drop it you should be okay.

"Amazing! Get One!(or two!)"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Well...I already began searching for a practice amp and found - a Bugera V-5! The V-5 is like carrying away a bucket full of the good tone that flows freely from the 333XL. One thing is for sure. I found my thrill. Any more searching that I do for amplification products will begin and most likely end with Bugera amps.
Sound
This amp is amazing! When mine arrived on Christmas Eve 2008, I took it to my music room / man cave and carefully unpacked it. Somehow the Bugera 4x12 also arrived. When I placed this amp on top of its 4x12 soul mate, I peeked through the steel grilling and saw the size of the power and output transformers. I literally had to sit down as I was astonished. At that moment, I knew this amp was going to kick and kick hard. Sure enough, when I came back to my senses and hooked everything up, (Bugera didn't include a speaker cable. They recommend a 3ft., 10 gauge Monster Cable.) I grabbed the cheapest guitar I own, and found my thrill! All my life I've been searching for "The Tone" and there it was! My search was and is over. I can't believe how well the built in noise gate works. On channel 3, the lead channel, this amp can be set on the highest hi-gain, (beyond) imaginable, and be dead quiet. The 333XL is like a panther, crouched and ready to pounce once you hit the first note or chord. I've read a lot of reviews that said the built-in noise gate doesn't do anything. Either I got really lucky and somehow got a good gate, or there may be a correlation between the type of speaker cable used and how well the gate (and for that matter the entire amp) works. Also, I use the low gain input. This amp is capable of producing any sound imaginable and then some. It really perks up when a vintage guitar or modern quality instrument is jacked into it. (I was amazed how well my $109.00 beater guitar sounded. I am floored by how well my Epiphone Prophecy guitar with EMG 81/85 pickups sounds.) In my opinion, Bugera hit the nail on the head with this amp. The 333XL is a Cadillac. It's like all the good things from all of the amps I've ever owned or played through were put together to create this amp. It's almost like magic. I can play any guitar through it and reap the best tone(s) that the guitar is capable of. It's not just about the frequency range and dynamic headroom or any other of the 333XL's impressive specifications, but the quality of the sound that really knocks me out. All of the knobs on my amp are nice and tight giving the amp a quality feel. When I switch channels, I can hear electromechanical relays switching, preserving the all tube signal flow. All of the engineering that went into this amplifier along with all of the human hands that built it add up to something that is greater than the sum of its parts. It's like the three channels, clean, crunch and lead could also be labeled outstanding, barely imaginable and unimaginable. With this Bugera my guitar has a partner in creating high quality sound. High quality engineering + high quality construction = high quality sound and high quality music. The 333XL will magnify and also help focus your signature tone. If we were to imagine the guitar signal as light it's as if this amp has three lenses (channels) and plenty of knobs to help focus (tweak) the amp and therefore the signal flowing through it. The amp has plenty of character, but can be tweaked to be virtually transparent with its sole purpose being to magnify the signature tone flowing through it. It can be set to juice the speaker cones based on picking dynamics. I've personally never felt as linked to or in control of the sound coming out of the cabinet(s) before stumbling across the Bugera 333XL. When you consider the XL switches, reverb and the boost function, you start to approach infinity with respect to the tone shaping abilities of this amp. It's like you can reproduce your signature tone in black and white or make use of a palete of infinite colors in between. Would a reverb switch on the foot switch be helpful? - yes. Would metal knobs and chromed metal grillwork be better than plastic? - yes. Would it be cool if the 333XL was hand-built in California instead of China? - maybe. To sum things up, the Bugera 333XL is all about giving you the kind of power and control necessary to produce high quality sound. It is also pedal and rackmount, FX Loop friendly. No, I don't work for Bugera. But I was fortunate to be able to purchase a second 333XL to play in stereo.
Features
I wish the 333XL came with the proper 3ft.,10 gauge speaker cable. I think that maybe most of the people that had any kind of negative experience with the 333XL would have had a very positive experience if the combination of using the low gain input jack along with the proper speaker cable were tried. I'd like to see the footswitch lengthened a bit to include a reverb switch and a switch that would let you choose between the two popular tube rectifier circuits and a solid state rectifier circuit. Also another switch that would allow switching between pentode and triode power tube operation. A built-in global graphic eq or parametric eq giving greater control of the mid frequencies would be cool but not necessary since the active tone controls in channels 2 and 3 are already more than adequate.
Ease of Use
All of the amps "secrets" are in the manual. The font used to label the knobs is really cool! Again, I was able to get great sounds with an elcheapo guitar using the low gain input jack and the proper speaker cable. This should be stressed or highlighted more in the manual. The interface is very intuitive. I started with the lowest guitar I had and the low gain input, figuring I'd work my way up to the high gain input. I found what I was looking for! Then I read the manual and learned more about the tone shaping features of the XL and Presence controls and how you can set each channel to either have reverb or not, with the 333XL remembering your settings, the next time you switch channels. The "high gain" input introduces the potential for a lot of noise which can overpower the noise gate. I only use it with active pickups and a high quality instrument cable.
Quality
The product is made very well and should last a lifetime. I play in stereo. The second 333XL also arrived in good, unblemished condition. I've played these amps for 2 years with no problems. This amp is as rugged as they come.
Value
The Bugera 333XL could go head to head with amps costing 5 or 6X as much. It's odd but I followed Bugera's "Soul of Valves" ad campaign on the back cover of Guitar World magazine. I hadn't updated my equipment in some time so when the time was right I set out to price a Bugera 333XL, fully expecting it to cost as much as a Marshall or Fender amplifier. I was amazed at the relatively low price! The low price allowed me to order the Bugera 4x12 speaker cabinet and a complete second rig. Also you can make a Bugera sound like a Marshall or Fender or be transparent or let it's own character shine through. I've never played through a Marshall or Fender or any other amp that could do all that.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't needed to contact anyone directly but I have found their website (www.bugera-amps.com) to be very helpful. Judging from how their website is constructed and how it has grown, I don't think live help is a problem for this company.
The Wow Factor
Bugera's ad campaign was very effective in creating a "want" for this product. I was looking for something new and this amp sure looked like something new. In my opinion, the technical marvel of this product should be highlighted more in a new 333XL ad campaign. I don't think the average guitarist knows how good making music can be until they've played through equipment of this caliber. I sure didn't. Fortunately Bugera seems to be on a mission to bring high quality, innovative amplifiers to everyone who wants one.

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sounds great but cheaply made and has high risk of failure. I own it, I still own it, but I would not gig with it unless I had a backup. Okay for basement practice.
Sound
Good sound in my opinion
Features
good features with three channels and the nice tube sound
Ease of Use
easy, playable, intuitive
Quality
Don't count on it. Mine had the well documented problem with the connector. Warrantee service shipping was more costly than local repair. I had to open it up and hard wire it, which takes a little knowledge and skill.
Value
Sounds great if nothing messes up. On the other hand, when the connector goes out, you will have silence.
Manufacturer Support
They wrote back, but again, my option was to pay shipping to and from the nearest authorized shop which was not going to be cheap.
The Wow Factor
If you take the silly chromed plastic things off it, it looks pretty cool.

"Bugera 333XL"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Owned this amp for about 2 weeks and had problems. Have owned my Marshall for several years with no issues yet. Marshall snob, no, I've owned all types of amps from Peavey to Mesa to Marshall. Marshall's are used extensively in rock for a reason.
Sound
A decent sounding amp for the money, but won't replace a good Marshall. Definitely better than most amps in it's price range. Nice heavy rock/metal tone's, and a very usable clean channel.
Features
Fairly rugged footswitch, with the basic control needed. Seperate tone controls and reverb on/off per channel nice. It would be nice if the amp remembered your settings (reverb/effects on/off) when powered down. Could benefit from individual reverb level for the clean channel. Crunch and lead channels a bit noisy, even using a gate. Built in noise gate a good idea, but not too effective.
Ease of Use
It's fairly easy to dial in good tones on the amp. They are good sounding, but the amp does have a signature sound which is a bit more modern than classic.
Quality
I'm not going to say the quality is poor, but it's not the most rugged amp I've owned. You can actually push on the headbox and hear the joints popping. The chassis seems fairly well constructed and the amp looks nice. The power transformer may a bit undersized, as it runs really hot (can't keep your hand on it).
Value
Even though it's a decent sounding amp for the money, Bugera does not have a good track record with this amp thus far. That makes the amp worth much less if you ever decide to sell or upgrade. That's where amp companies, like Marshall, Mesa... may cost a little more, but are a better value in the long run.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with customer support.
The Wow Factor
It's a good looking amp, but tries a little to hard to be something else. Just make it reliable and sound good, and no one will be near as concerned with how it looks.

Bugera 333XL Guitar Amp Customer Review

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This is a great sounding amp......when it works!!!! All three channels have their own unique sound, and all can be modified to find almost any sound your looking for. The clean channel is very clean and crisp, and the distortion channels both have a lot of crunch to them.
Features
The xl feature is probably the only cool feature on the entire amp. It gives it a more distortioned sound with changing the tone just a bit.
Ease of Use
very easy to use...love the options on all the channels!!!
Quality
THis is my third one....I sent it back the first time because the thing was wired poorly and caused the tubes to fry....and the sencond time i sent back for the same reason, and now the thing gives horrible feedback and sometimes doesnt turn on.

This thing rocks the crib and doesn't break the bank. This is just what the market needs. Great gear from new players that a superiorly designed and alot less expensive. I love supporting things like this....
Sound
Got today and it is wicked and lush. I also have a B-52 At-100 that sounds amazing and the two compliment each other well. Hard to pick a favorite. there just different. I worked at Guitar Center for a couple of years and I have heard a lot of amazing amps but these two just stand out to me and not because of the price. Both are beastly and well-built and I now have my favorite two amps on the market. The stock tubes sound great like the 52's (got mine early when they had sovteks) but I will replace all tubes soon. Three independent channels and noise gate all as advertised. Using AT-100 flat cabs and they sound brilliant (favorite cheap cab that blows away higher priced names)
Features
All as advertised...Knobs are not typical felling but not a problem. More features than I am used to or expected. Has it all except Tube rectifier but if you like metal then that's all you want anyway (AT-100 stays on ss rec setting)
Ease of Use
5 minutes to dial in my three tones. Will tweak more but I was satisfied after 5 mins.
Quality
Will revise if something happens but appears to be well made. I also think it is a good design. I love how the bias can so easily be adjusted with an external pot an lead connecter. Plus it's made to be conv to either 6L6 or EL84. This feature is unprecedented on a amp this inexpensive..
Value
Really this has the features and sound of a $1.500 to $2,000 dollar head

"Killer Country Tone!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I would have to buy another if it was stolen or lost in transit. I'm working this amp daily, on tour with several Nashville label acts. And the touring will tear up an amp quickly, so far no problems at all... these are solid amps. The tone is stellar. My only beef would be I want 2 clean channels... but I'm preatty sure I can mod that myself. For what I do I need super clean for pedal steel guitar, and this amp is a KILLER steel guitar amp!!! and also a slightly driven pre amp tube rattling sound, for the mainstream country stuff.
Sound
I use this amp for country music... yeah I know it's a metal amp... but dude! set the clean channel preamp volume at 10 and the post volume at 4, I set the bass at 10:00, mids at around 11-12:00 and the highs at 1:00, with verb at 50%... it's got killer country tone. I've been touring with a 333XL for the last 2 weeks and it's reliable, sounds excellent and its dead sexy!
Features
footswitch included. I really haven't needed to switch channels because I'm touring as a country guitarist. But the footswitch has 3 channels and verb... once you set it, you are good to go.
Ease of Use
totally playable amp, easy to set up and use. The switchable cab is very cool.
Quality
I've been playing one on tour and have never had a problem, they are solid.
Value
I think they priced these low, but thats great for guys like me and you. This amp is worth twice the selling price!
The Wow Factor
The head and cabinet are pure sex... I wanted one before I heard it. But after I used it, I had to have one.

"AMAZING AMP FOR A GREAT PRICE!!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
For ever! I'll continue to replace the tubes when needed, and all other services as normal. This amp feels durable, I have gigged with it numerous times and it held up wonderfully. An excellent buy! 10/10
Sound
This amp is awesome! It has some sick metal tones (think COB), and a beautiful clean channel - amazing! xD
Features
Well it's got everything I could ask for: clean, dist, and lead channels, nice reverb, ohm switchable head, FREE (with the amp) 4 button footswitch - the works!
Value
HUGE value - $600 for an amazing high gain amp - if it was from a big name company it could still sell it for over a grand easy.
The Wow Factor
It's a very sexy amp! Beautifully made with orgasmic/organic tones. It truly is an amp worth lusting for! lol
