I originally purchases the combo version of this amplifier.. unfortunately my house burned down before I ever got to play it. BUT - I really wanted the stand alone head, anyway - and as soon as I could I got it and I could NOT be happier with the purchase. I have three other tube amps that are higher wattage, but have selectable switches that act as a 'power soak' that doesn't destroy your tubes. I play them all on 1 watt as I kinda like my neighbors.. for now, anyway : } .I ABSOLUTELY love the tones this little tetradactyl produces. I am seeing a little bit of good in the fact I am playing it through a 12' green back celestion.. and it has some of the best tons.... Blown away.
Sound
The most versatile low watt tube amp I have played.
Features
The most useful features.. are .. there are NOT a lot of BS features... it's a simple 4 knob amp that will impress even the biggest knuckle dragger
Ease of Use
SO many good tones out of the head... from a very nice clean, to a harmonically dynamic overdrive
Quality
I don't play out much anymore, so I can't speak about the 'roadworthiness of the head.. but it appears to be built like a tank. If you play out.. and if your stage volume is good, this would most certainly work VERY WELL in small to medium venues.
Value
The absolute best bang for your buck, period.
Manufacturer Support
I have had no need to engage support... that seems like a good thing.
The Wow Factor
.... what made me want this amp was, I had seen a lot of really great reviews for the 6L6 and Britt tubed 40 watt combos (maybe it was 60.. but I digress) and they were impressive. When I am going to buy an amp - especially one I had not heard of - I spend a little painful time on YouTube and others.... I can usually get a reasonable feel for an amp without much effort.. this one was absolutely everything most of the reviews said. Damned solid, simple, rock and roll god send.

All I wanted was a good sounding, straight ahead, non modeling, no frills, basic, toneful amp. Low wattage was desired as well. The head and cab go wonderfully together. I can play any time, day or night and sound good at low volume. The amp has headroom to go a little loud if needed. At one watt, you can still get the cops a-coming to your door if you live communal, like a condo or apt. Good amp + cab any way you slice it.

I was gifted an HT1RH MkII amp head, and have become a Blackstar fan for life. This amp fits perfectly between Vox cleans and Marshall dirty. The folks at Blackstar nailed it with this one, and at this pricepoint, everyone can afford the tube tone. Mine is well made, sounds delightful at bedroom levels, and can dish out the blues as well as Scorpions/Schenker rock-style. A single watt of power yet I can play it thru my single Vox 10" cab, my 2-12" w/Celestions, and even a 4-10" cab by Electro Harmonix. Or headphones! The USB out great for direct digital recording and works wonders when paired with an SM57 mic. I prefer this amp over my Marshall 1 watt head, although I wish the Blackstar also had an effects loop. No biggie because it takes pedals so dang well!

Just got this and can't quit playing it...Got it hooked to a 1x12 cab with a Celestion 35XC in it, warm and wonderful! Perfect for my studio and has tones from jazz to blues to classic rock and more all fat and rich real tones, not modeled.

I have tube amps but was looking for something to use at lower levels and still be tubed and sound good - This is it !Small , easy to transport and does sound very good. Hooked to a 2X12 cab it will get louder than you think , but turned down or with headphones there is no loss of tone - the tone is there ! No FX loop , but I’m old school and it takes pedals in front of amp very well. For home practice or just noodling around , it is the best big sounding 1 Watt tube/valve head I have come across and I don’t think many would disagree. If you are looking for big sound under disturbing the peace levels - you might want to check this out …
