"The truly great V-ampire"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I cant find anything else quite like it for the $..... I keep looking at the website for the 2x12 150 watt version of this. If it disappeared, I would buy another immediately. If they could put a bit more volume in the clean models it would be welcome.
Sound
The V-ampire is an Excellent value. I have used it gigging for the last 4 years. It takes a LONG time to get this thing where it is at, but it is worth it. Some of what I have learned, Run it in L2, turn off the cab models. The software to set it up is a must. Within the software it is easy to manipulate the drive, noise gate etc. which is almost impossible without it. Almost any sound can be emulated. It is powerful on its own. Last gig, the other guitarist told me I was too loud. He plays a tsl 100 & the bassist uses an SVT. The clean sounds are weaker than the overdriven ones but can be suppliented with the compressor. If the job is larger than about 200 people it needs to be miced. I do not like the way the direct outs sound live through the PA.although they are not bad for recording.
Features
It is absolutely necessary to have the midi controller to access presets in live situations. The wah filter characteristics are too wide & make a bad wah sound. The volume pedal is great to control dynamics. I wish there was a 2x12 version of this thing. I can't for the life of me figure why Behringer did not do this. I want a portable, (read no 4x12 cab) setup. It could use just a bit more coverage power & 2x12 speakers to be perfection.
Ease of Use
This is a digital modeling amp & the learning curve was long, but if one cares to take the time by reading the manual a few times, go to user groups and spend a lot of time with it, it will be worth the effort. I have about 8 amps that are heavy, one trick ponies that require all kinds of outboard stuff to get a palate of tones. This is one 48 Lb self contained unit that does it all. At $250 I dont know how they do it.
Quality
I have been gigging this amp for 4 years running it at 2/3 to 3/4 volume. The only problem was a cmos battery that went dead (lost all the settings) It has been bulletproof, but i take care of it. The pots, (more accurately "encoders") have plastic shafts & will easily break so i built a 1/8" plywood cover. problem solved. It still looks & works like new.
Value
Compared to the competition this was a no brainer. In all fairness I'm using the competitions modeling guitar, but for the amp I think It is the best value presently. The amp & controller are priced much less than the competition.
Manufacturer Support
I needed a firmware update for the foot controller FCB1010 to make it work properly. Behringer was friendly & fast with a new chip & it has worked flawlessly since. How often does that happen any more.
The Wow Factor
It looks nice, but i wish they would take the "ear" off their logo. Playing a Marshall is like driving a corvette, but then playing this V-Ampire sounds way more like the cover material we are trying to create. Forget about status symbols & be concerned with the way it sounds. This is so well done I believe all the amp companies will have an offering similar to it in short order. It is the future..now.

"If you take the time to read the instructions and take the time to tweak till you get what you want, you will over this amp, if"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have everything I need right here. It would be nice if it had the 99 FX effects that the GMX V-Tone products have, but good grief, with 32 amps and the ability to set the Gain, the Drive, the Presence, the Volumn, the Bass, the Mid, and the Treble on each amp, I am fully satisfied with what I have. If you do not take the time to tweak each amp, and make a chart of each setting for each amp, and what amp is in each bank you will make a lot more work for yourself
Sound
The sounds this amp is able to produce unbelieveable. With 32 amp choices it is impossible not to find the sound you want. The VOX sound requires a lot of tweaking. If you do not take the time to read the instructions several times and mark the places for easy reference that pretain to various aspects of configuring each amp you only make it harder to do.
Features
Each bank has 5 pre-sets available, and you can create your own amp and sound for each amp in each bank and the foot pedal will allow you to move from one pre-set to another within each bank of amp selections. If this amp had the FX effects that are in the GMX amps it would be even more KILLER! The onboard effects are not that good, but not that bad; you have to spend the time to tweak each amp and effect selected.
Ease of Use
If you want to get a good sound from this amp you are going to have to read the instructions and actually spend the time required to tweak each of the setting associated with each amp you select in a bank. I X-ed out everything in the instruction manuel that did not pretain to the LX112 so I did not waste time while reading and adjusting my amp selection. I have tweaked and re-tweaked the 95 amp selections several times so that I have exactly what I want. Another important thing; I created a document in word processor making five cap "O"s across the page and then copied it all the way down the page in banks of 5; and then I printed it out and used it to draw in each amp selection and the exact setting for Gain, Vol, Bass, Mid, Treble, and then at the end I put what effect I chose and the setting of each of them. This way I know exactly what each bank contains, and exactly what each setting is.
Quality
This is the second Behringer I have owned. I found a few loose screws on the outside of this amp. The plastic knobs stand out farther than the ones did on the GMX210 I previously owned,so one would need to be careful when moving this thing around, but most people I know who have invested in an amp treat them like a lady.
Value
For the money, you will not find an amp anywhere near this one for the same money.
Manufacturer Support
I have had no trouble at all in communicating with Behringer. If I run into a tech problem I send them an email and they answer my question within 3 days. You actually create your own identity with Behringer and you go to their website to view all emails you may have sent them and their response to each of them. My GMX210 developed a bad rumble inside the cabinet about a year after I first purchased it at Zzounds; I sent off an email to Behringer informing them of the situation. After a couple of exchanges they refered me to their Replacement Warranty Dept and I packed it up and sent it off. It took longer to ship my new amp than usual because of the end of the year inventory, so I got a phone call from someone in the RW office and they offered me an up-grade, so after looking at what was available I chose the LX112.
The Wow Factor
This is a really cool looking amp, all those red LEDs glowing against all that black. Really cool.

"The best amp for the money, every sound you want is there waiting to be coaxed out of it."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This amp is all I need. It has all the amps I want, so I get all the sounds I want, and it is plenty loud, and clear. I love this amp and should it be lost I would get another one just like it. I do wish this thing had the effects package in it that is in the GMX 210, 99 editable effects. The combining of them with the 32 amps in the LX112 would be my dream amp.
Sound
The sound of this amp is great. I only use this amp at my house but my neighbors 3 houses down say they can hear me playing and I have never set the volumn over half way up. I do have the Drive set to 1 on every amp setting. I think the effects are much better on the Behringer GMX 210.
Features
This thing came with a foot switch that allows you to switch up and down within a bank of 5 amp settings. It is useful.
Ease of Use
If you spend the time to tweak each amp you can get great sounds. I have had mine for over a year and I have finally tweaked 22 banks of amp sounds just the way I want them. Having had this amp for this lone I have done a lot of changing on the sound and effect of each amp and finally have shaped each amp sound just the way I want it to sound. I left the last 3 at the factory setting as they have some really cool double effect sounds. Changing the sound is very simple, but the varity of nuances you can get for any amp you select is limited only to how much time you want to spend dialing in till you get that golden sound.
Quality
I love this amp. It looks cool. I think that care needs to be taken if you had to move the amp around a lot as the knobs stick out about 9/16 of an inch. My amp sounds just as good if not better today than when I first got it over a year ago. I never move it, it just sits and looks purdy, so it looks like it just came out of the box.
Value
For the sound I get and the 32 amps THIS IS A STEAL!!!!
Manufacturer Support
I have had some dealings with Behringer reps and I find them courtious and very very friendly. When I had a problem and had to contact them, I told them right off how much I liked my amp, gave a few details and asked them for their help and I got it immediately.
The Wow Factor
To me this is a great looking amp, solid black and all those red lights. It is just a really cool looking amp, whether it is on or turned off, it just plain old looks cool.

"Wow what a cool amp, until it broke after only three months."

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I expected to be satisfied a lot longer than three months!!! Thats the fastest amp break down I have ever seen worse than cheap Crate models!!! Now I'm going through the return routine lets see how this goes????
Sound
Tone busts up at end of sustain. Does not matter if I'm playing my Jackson or my Fender Tele.
Features
Lots of features. Comes with a foot switch. Needs to come with a couple midi cables
Ease of Use
The owners man is not the best it needs to be more down to earth and simple. A step by step approach so to speak.
Quality
Reliability is the key issue I have only had this amp for 3 months and it broke, It just out of the blue started making this high pitch scratchy huming crakling noise. I was on this site today making arangments to send it back. The biggest problem is the volume, it does not have that much punch to it. I took great care of this amp it stayed in my studio and I never moved it from its place. Thats why it is such a let down to me for breaking I know it has to be a flaw in manufacturing or cheap components.
Value
The price is great and if it works right it is a great buy, lots of fun when it works.
Manufacturer Support
Have not delt with them but if I did I would sujest a step by step user friendly guide with example video tutorials online. I would also tell them to make the volume better and use better components.
The Wow Factor
looks fine, not my main concern really it is all about the sounds. it is just a practical addition to my setup. Used for practice and recording.

Wow, I just bought one thinking it would be a nice practice amp, but damn I dident think it would be so good. The Sound is beautiful even when its so loud that you vibrating off your seat lol. The effects are amazing people say the wah wah sounds cheasy, i dont know what they are talking about, it sounds great, maybe not your normal wah wah but its nice. If you got the cash, or are even planing on spending 500, dont waste your money this is the amp man. this is it. lol. You wont be disapointed
Sound
Its not uber loud but it sounds very nice.
Features
I wouldent know where to begin. Too many features maybe a down side? not for me tho...:D
Quality
Seems to be good nobs maybe a litle flimsy but as long as your not breaking guitars over it or somthing it should standup to what u can dishout.

"Killer pro sounds but TOO QUIET FOR LIVE"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I must supplement this V-ampire for my live gigs with an external speaker or cab. It is too quiet even for small clubs (it ain't the size of the room, ya know, it's the VOLUME OF THE DRUMMER!) I love it to death for recording in my home studio, but all it really adds over the beloved V-amp 2 I sold to buy this amp is the 4x12 speaker simulation XLR outs in the back and an FX loop I/O (which is handy... plug a compressor/gate into that loop and be dazzled!). Otherwise, if you plan to run direct into a PA or only play through headphones or recording, the V-amp 2 is every bit as good and much cheaper.
Sound
It gets a 9, calculated as follows: a 100 for the sounds themselves, especially as experienced through headphones or a recording deck via the direct outputs in the back. But it gets a -91 for the (lack of)volume and extreme bassiness of the Jensen speaker. Simply put, this thing is TOO DARN QUIET even at max volume and it's bass-y as heck. Ironically, I bought it because my beloved V-Amp 2, run through a Fender Frontman, was waaaay too trebly; careful what ya wish for, this one sounds like a bass amp, except that my bass player's Hartke drowns it out, as does the drummer.
Features
Plain-n-simple, I love the V-amp circuitry, that V-amp sound. For recording or playing through headphones, these things are awesome, literally they made me 100x better guitar player, perhaps through sheer inspiration -- for 20 years, my guitar had never sounded so professional; suddenly it sounds great and I'm playing leads like never before.
Quality
Seems rugged enough, it's been gigged and practiced in some rough conditions, slogged up and down metal ladders on ships, etc. I give it a "9" because I consider the volume issue to be part of the quality area. TOO SOFT!
Value
Seems like an easy 10 -- great sounds at a price that is half the nearest serious competitor. But because it is SO QUIET, I'm going to have to buy an external speaker (probably the Behringer 4x12 ego stack) to make up for the lack of volume. So one point off (but even with another speaker, it's cheaper than most Line 6 amps).
Manufacturer Support
Behringer is slow as Christmas to answer emails, and when they do answer them, well, it's sometimes difficult to glean any useful information from their ESL answers. But when I got a bum V-amp 2 shipped to me, they immediately replaced it, no worries.
The Wow Factor
Looks OK, but I think the Spider and Vetta are sexier, and of course a BIG MARSHALL STACK might not even sound as good in the modern era but still has that name-brand rock sex appeal.

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars

Sound
I hate this amp, I hated form the min. I hooked my Gibson Strat to it. The bass distorts big time and all the setting I tried sucked, its a toy its not an amp and its going back for a refund and I'm looking else where for a real amp not a toy. Leave to the Germans to make something that sounds weird, they don't know anything about music and amps, how many bands you know of from Germany? Right. All they know is weird. They think the weirder the sound the better the music is. You want a toy buy this amp, you want an amp buy something from the USA or from a name you trust, Behringer what a joke. Never again.

I would simply replace it, knowing I own the pedal board by them also.
Sound
Well, everyone has their own opinion, bc every1 has their own style of playing, I use this HEAD, not this actual amp lol.. running on 2 4x12 cabs, take a listen to just one sound type you can use out of many at www.myspace.com/huntinggroundband. If your looking for the best sound in "my opinion" would have the head set to L1 "Live 1".
Features
No doubt, features stand high and tall,
Ease of Use
Heres for my under 10 rating, the footswitch is a big issue. There is WAY to much of a delay between switching. Unless you buy the effects board also this might become an issue. Although I prefer as close to a raw sound than tons of effects so thats why it isnt much of an issue 4 me.
Quality
Its f'ing tuff. And you will be too after carrying this beast. lol.
Value
Unbelievable how cheap this head is. I was using a marshall head and that didnt stand a chance against this head.
Manufacturer Support
bc I havent needed it in over 2 years of having this head.
The Wow Factor
Average looking, but 9 bc the digital lights are what give it its look at night. As long as behringer keeps producing like this I will be standing by their side.

Your not going to find an amp like it. I bought this amp and have had it for about 5 months now. I just read these reviews, and have to say some of these people are retarded. The one intitled "laughing" ... talk about one ignorent sob. My friend has a marshal 80w and this amp blows it out of the water without a doute. The sounds this thing can produce are endless. The volume is no issue. I have a set of drums as well and its no where neer drowning out the guitar even at half volume. Just wanted to inform anyone that is thinking about buying an amp that you WILL DEFFINITLY NOT be disapointed AT ALL. KEEP ON ROCKING.. and dont let these idiots make u think 'maybe this isent such a good idea'... it maybe a possablitly that they are actuly def?

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Sounds utterly awesome, but it breaks easily. The jacks are all made of plastic, it only took one drunk at a gig in Ukraine dancing onto my guitar cord to totally destroy the input jack. Behringer takes literally weeks to answer emails, still waiting to hear if I can get a replacement part. Took it apart to attempt repairs and learned that it's fairly flimsy inside. For studio sounds, any of the V-Amp series are absolutely great, but this combo amp is no road warrior, and neither is my other guitarist's V-Amp 2, which is making hideous noises after two gigs on the road.

Very good for the money.
Sound
Playing this the first time I thought "great", but silly me when I bought the amp home and turned it up to a reasonable level and it starts to distort, especially in the bass, but overall tis ni-ce. Probably a little quieter than your normal 100 watt'er
Features
Very Good. Extremely good features although some may think the wah is cheesy, The stereo flanger is something orgasmic, especially when practising with your headphones.
Quality
While lending it to a friend for a night which I regret now. It came back with a broken pot and shaft, so the whole switch needed replacing, which cost me $130 (Australian) I was spewin'. In summary Basically looks nice and gizmos galore but built with flimsy plastic parts.

A lot of 'Bang for the Buck'! This amp by itself with the 1-12" Jensen didn't sound that great to me at first until I plugged in another 12" 8 ohm cabinet and 'Man' did this thing open up. It got 3 times as loud and produces a great stereo spread on many of the presets. For $299 you can't go wrong but remember to get another 12" 8 ohm cabinet to go with it.
