First off I brought these monitors to replace my CLA-10's (1st Gen Passive) so my setup can be more minimalist. I took em out the box, set them up, turned them on, and confused because theirs no depth! Everything sound completely flat. I put all the sounds on the same playing field. I couldn't tell how far pushed back the background vocals is in the mix, so I can replicate the reverb on my mixes. Stay away from these if you care about depth in your mixes like I do! I knew these wasn't it for me when I played Dr. Dre tracks threw em and it flatted his mixes! Oh no! I'll rather get the CLA-10's Passive (2nd Gen) instead.Here's what I found out about these monitors...- The VTPC knob darken or brighten the sound (It sounds like a Tilt EQ to me. When you turn it down it removes the high end & makes the bass sound more muffled);- XLR cables has the most static and makes it more brighter, and RCA cables makes it sound lower in volume;- The transients can still be heard.
