I recently purchased a set of Attack Drumheads from my kit on my snare and toms. I used the clear single-ply Proflex 1, (coated on the snare) and was so surprised by how great they sounded that I wanted to try the kickdrum head, and figured it would be just as good or even better than the toms and snare heads; unfortunately, I was let down. Normally for my kick, I won't say what I normally use, but I finger tighten the tensionrods when putting a new head on and then maybe a quarter or half-turn and my kick is right where I want it, nice and low and punchy. This head, in order to get all the wrinkles out to avoid the papery sound I'm sure y'all have heard whenever a head isnt tight enough, the kick was then so high that my lowest floor tom was lower in pitch. To be fair, I have not tried their "Orbit" head, which is supposed to be more like the kick head I normally use, but more than likely won't because it costs the same as my go-to kick head. I also pair the batter kick head with the black resonant kick Attack head as well. They look well-made, however the sound for the kick head just wasn't there. Of course for a batter and resonant kick head, you won't find a cheaper in price one, but trust me, it's worth the extra to know your kick will sound great.
