This keyboard is an incredible value. It sounds amazing, and you get far more than what you pay for. You can create amazing leads, and an insane amount of deep bass sounds. From punchy low end tones, to clean and amazing sounding deep saw waves, to grimey, dirty, bass that you can feel in your loins. I actually purchased one of the newer Korg Electribes first, having been an unabashed fanboy of the earlier Korg EMX-1 Electribe. Sad to say, it let me down a bit compared to it's predecessor. I had been reading lots of reviews and watching videos about the Minibrute, so I pulled the trigger. I've only had it a week or so, and I'm very happy I made the switch. Such a great keyboard that I'm now considering buying a Microbrute to pair it up with. For those looking at the regular Minibrute vs the SE, I don't feel as if I missed anything by purchasing the SE. The sequencer on the SE is SO easy to use, and you can make your own Arps with ease. I didn't even need to crack the manual to start making all sorts of Arps and sequences. Just flipped a few switches and played. I use a scosh of software for my synths, but nothing beats having knobs and slibers to touch and move with your hands. That's why I love this synth. It's super intuitive, fun, easy to use, and sounds amazing. If you like analog and don't wanna break the bank, this keyboard is a no brainer. Lastly, it's HEAVY. Definitely built to last...You can feel it the second you pick it up. I will have this keyboard forever, and would gig and tour with it without giving it a second thought.

"An Instrument not a Machine"

Definitely analogue all the way. Got it wired to a 10" tube guitar amplifier to finish it off. The hookups threw me for a loop for a long time until I understood it's a musical instrument. It patches to a computer like an electric guitar, the MIDI cables don't operate as expected and it uses USB cord to run the SE connection software, which is simply a tool to work the sequencer in a more elaborate way and save settings and files. The SE firmware was already updated to the latest. Arturia gave the SE and extra -3 octave. When it's on the 3rd lowest the 2 left most light are on. The Arturia user guide is the best I've ever read. They start out with most basic sound demonstration and keep going back to the initial setup even in the end of the guide. Show you a few controls to try out. The middle part is illustrated functionality of the SE. Once that's done you get 10 preset templates plus 5 blanks. Using the preset sheets is crucial to see the parameters of the SE and what it can do, which is surprising, plus they are great to experiment with and learn from. I would like to have some videos that show how to use the SE musically, learn the techniques. The quality of materials is top of the line, nothing cheap here. I got this for the important reason that it can be used as a MIDI controller with other applications on computer, such as Omnisphere. Must have had 8 midi controllers, all too cheap to keep. The SE stays permanently. Have to add that the SE is intuitive, real easy to operate for someone who never used a synth before.

Musical Background:

Been doing lessons for years. Play electric guitar, piano.
