Alvarez Blues 51 Arched Back Acoustic Guitar

Sometimes simple designs yield the best results. The combination of a compact body, arched back and 12-fret neck gives the Blues 51 impressive projection.

Great little guitar!! I'm hooked on theses parlor size guitars. They're perfect for singing and playing without a microphone. Full size acoustics can over power vocals whe there's no microphone being used. zZounds is so easy to work with. The service is second to none!!

Looked at lots pf guitars Alvarez Masterworks have 1.8 inch nut which is way too wide. Settled on this as it doesnt have a slotted headstock. It doesnt have electronics and it doesnt have a cutaway. I want guitars that have a normal headstock and arent cutaway and that dont have electronics. This guitar comes in 3 versions - this one here, a 12 fretter with electronics and a 14 fretter. My nut is seated fine. The guitar is built well but dosnt sound that great. Hopefully it will improve as it ages. The arch back is nice and the neck has a soft V shape that is cool. Its rosewood back and sides and a nice solid spruce top that is tight grained and has a nice sunburst finish. The guitar is heavy I guess the rosewood laminate is dense. The frets are low profile and the fret edges are smooth -- this Alvarez guitar is nicer than the Ibanez acoustics whose fret wire is tall and thin. The 1.75 nut does not feel too wide. The join seam from headstock to neck is superlative. The nut is cut uniformly and so is the saddle. This guitar has ALL the features I want strum OR fingerpick this thing. 1. full bodied not cutaway 2. no electronics 3. not a slotted headstock. 4. solid spruce top not cedar or mahagony 5. normal bridge not the bi-level shaped bridge 6. 12 frets not 14 7. no binding on neck other than normal black one ply binding 8. no fret markers
