So if you have done any research on this kit you'll have read about woes with the hihat. So first thing is update the module to v1.4, this has taken care of any of the issues I read about on mine. Get ready to give up a fair chunk of floor space. It is just like having a full acoustic kit set up. It took about an hour or so to set it all up ( not my first electronic kit ). Really simple to do and your ready to go....... Well almost. You will need a kick pedal, stool and hihat stand. So far this kit is outstanding, plenty of good (and some barely passable) kits on board the module. Or if your like me USB connection to my Mac and triggering EZ Drummer 2 ( choose DM10 for your default input kit).I have owned the TD25 and in my opinion for the money the Strike Pro can't be beat.

I upgraded to this kit from the DM10MKII and was looking forward to the expanded functionality as well as the extra triggers. I received the kit and immediately had concerns as the carrier had evidently manhandled the packages the entire way. I was able to get the kit assembled fairly easily. If it's your first electronic kit it may take you a while but the directions are ample enough to get you through it. Once I unboxed the module and connected the trigger cables and power cord I was ready to get started dialing it in. I pressed the power button on the module and....nothing. Tried several outlets....nothing. This wasn't a refurb kit either. It was brand new. I contacted both Alesis and Zzounds about the issue but have yet to hear back from either, but zZounds chat was pretty helpful in pointing me to the correct place to request a replacement. The size of the kit is substantial so you will need some floor space to set it up. This is basically the same size as a full sized acoustic kit. The drum pads are extremely nice. Having had several electronic kits I was really looking forward to having a true shell kit look without the noise. This kit does not disappoint in aesthetics. The cymbals are larger than my old Alesis kit as well. This makes playing much more "real". The rack is pretty durable and I like what they have done with the clamps, making them easier to position. The best part, IMO, is the kick pad. My other electronic kits had the standard lollipop-looking kick pad that would NEVER stay put. This one is substantial enough that you don't have to worry about it. Back to the module.....after 24 hours and not hearing anything back I started my own troubleshooting. I ended up removing the screws for the module cover and took it off. What I found really makes me question Alesis's quality assurance team. The main board cable was not even connected. It was just hanging there. I plugged it in and put the cover back on. Got all of the triggers connected again and tried powering it on. BOOM! Everything worked flawlessly! Since then I have been going through the features on the kit to get familiar with it but geez.....this thing is very robust! I have a lot yet to configure but out of the box the standard kits sound pretty amazing. I look forward to getting everything dialed in and jamming. My overall impression of the kit is that it is worth the price. AS LONG AS everything works. I plan on keeping it since I waited so long to pull the trigger on it. If you are on the fence, you won't be disappointed, but you also might want to think about spending the extra couple hundred for the SE kit when it comes back in stock. If I had known I was going to have issues out of the box on this kit, I would have waited for the SE kit.

I just got mine and so far very pleased. The module is easy to navigate. I will update this review when I get my sound replacement software and let you know how it works in conjunction with it. The only thing I would recommend if your buying this kit is to go ahead and order 13 new TRS cables with it. You can do about 3-3 foot cables 3-5 foot, and 7-10 foot. The cable snake they supply is of low quality and several of the drums and cymbals did not trigger properly ( cables confusing difference between head and rim triggers and cymbal edge and bow). Other than that I’m extremely pleased with the kit and for the price you can’t beat it, or can you?
