"cant get a better sounding monitor for the money."
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
the only way i would replace these monitors is if alesis came out with a better series of the ones i already have.
Sound
i do alot of hip-hop and r&b tracks, so bass is important so i added a krk rokit 10 sud, and if i could put the sound quality of the m1 active 620 in one word it would be (orgazmic)
Features
no
Ease of Use
i have a home project studio made and listened to alot of dry tracks on em, have not mastered on them yet.
Quality
it seems to be solid construction, but i dont move them, one concern though i also can hear a hiss when the gain is turned up (kind of annoying)
Value
great price for the sound quality (in my opinion better then the over priced events)
Manufacturer Support
havent had to deal with em.
The Wow Factor
very appealing nice to look at ,even better to listen to.

"Beware: Design fault!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If it fails again, I will replace it, sure will never buy Alesis again!
Sound
The sound has good resolution. But there is a strong groundnoise or hiss, good hearable up to 2 meters distance.
Features
Missing standard chinch connectors
Ease of Use
I very like the buttons on top of the speakers. They are really easy to reach.
Quality
It seems this product is intended to fail after warranty. There is a design fault on the circuitry board that has been known for years and appears also on the 520, Mk2 and other speakers from Alesis: Some parts are soldered too close together, they will burn out after more or less time, thats for sure. There are many complaints all over the web. Mine failed after 18 months. Service repair would probably just change the board and a year later I would have the same again. A friend changed the parts and solved the design problem. The parts are just 10$.
Value
Taking in account the problems with the board, I would not even take this speakers for a price under 300$
Manufacturer Support
Thea have sent me their local service center address. But Service repair would probably just change the board and a year later I would have the same problem again.
The Wow Factor
It looks good and plays well. But only for a year.

"Not bad"
I'm still within the return period and may look around at other monitors to see if they have that hiss at no volume problem. Not many fall within this price range. I may look at KRK.
Sound
I upgraded from unpowered Alesis Monitor One MKIIs. The sounds characteristics are remarkably similar. I'd have to say that the highs are smoother though, much less ear fatique. The bass also seems more controlled and less muddy.
The imaging is very good with low distortion at all noise levels I've tried. I have a small project studio so they get loud enough for me. The bass is ok but there is only so much a 6 1/4 woofer can do. The frequencies do roll off fairly smoothly when they do get too low.
One complaint, if you stick your head near the tweeters when the power is on but with gain all the way down, you can hear a faint hiss. I don't know if all powered monitors do this, but it's fairly annoying considering I have a very quiet room.
Features
A small amount of adjustments on the back. Not many variations, but good enough for me, they sound best flat anyway.
Ease of Use
If you understand what powered monitors are, this is easy.
Quality
I've used Alesis products for a while and have never had any issues.
Value
You can't beat the price performance when compared to other powered monitors.
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with them
