"good idea bad construction"
i think alesis should make a DEQ830MKII with good converters, external power suply, 96khz dual smux adats and then... wow!!
Sound
this device is hiss like a snake!!! the analog outputs are very noizy even if there is no signal. cheap AD / DA converters! the power supply inside the box, is working all the time since the device is plugged to the wall socket and the noize is present from this power supply also.
Features
very good idea to build such a device! it has all the futures you can expect from a digital eq. it will be much better if it was 96khz compatible and the eq gain to be at +/- 16 or 18 db and not only at 12.
Ease of Use
very easy and simple
Quality
the sound is noizy!!! i've try to boost the hi frequencies and it was a disaster.
Value
killing price! party time!
Manufacturer Support
this device has been released for a very short period and alesis stops to produce it. i think this is the most short time model on the market!!! i never get an answer to my e-mails what can i do for this noise...
The Wow Factor
i want it very bad! i was almost ready to order 2 of them. but when i tried the first one, that noise was a nightmare

If they add 96khz ADA to the 44.1 and 48khz of this unit I will probably upgrade and give this one to my bro. Of course I would ave to buy another sound
Sound
I only use the RTA and the ADA not the EQ. Manual says 100db SNR.
Features
The RTA shows which frequencies (and their levels) an instrument or voice is taking up in the mix. That teaches me what I'm hearing. Seeing the frequency info also helps with multiband compression settings and mixing. Eight 1/4" TRS bal or unbal IO +4/-10 switchable. ADAT IO. 24 bit 44.1 or 48khz (you choose or uses incoming clock.)
Value
This unit is really versatile. It's an 8 channel 24 bit ADC. It's an 8 channel DAC. It's a Real Time Analyzer. For me seeing is knowing. I hope to get to the hearing is knowing state with the help of the deq830.
Manufacturer Support
Not used yet.
The Wow Factor
I could not mix without it. Steinberg Wavelab and Wavess PAZ are good for seeing sound inside the computer, but this is the most afforable way of seeing it outside the computer that I know of.

"GET ONE NOW!"
See above
Sound
Clear, clean, digital EQ, what its supposed to be.
Features
I would like Alesis to provide a list of the presets within it.
The best part is completely separate 8 channels of EQ in one rack space. Incredible!
Ease of Use
A little bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it, it is easy to use.
Quality
Excellent. Works great live and in the studio.
Value
8 clean, digital 30 band EQ's in one rack space, both analog and digital input/output, wow
Manufacturer Support
My only gripe is the lack of info on the presets, you should not have to just randomly scroll through, a list would be nice.
