"Alesis 3630 is best buy for HOUSE MUSIC PRODUCERS"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
overall, this is probably the best sounding dynamics processor you can own without spending upwards of $1000
Sound
Punchy, tight sound. Probably bad for rock music or a live band. GREAT for house music, techno. Used by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, Patrick Alavi, High Caliber and many other house music groups.
Features
all the necessary knobs that you would need in a dynamics processing unit.
Quality
mine is beat up, but the sound it clean
Value
this is the best compressor for the money
Manufacturer Support
never dealt with tech support
The Wow Factor
this product is a sleeper, it is generally disliked by the audio tweeks, but for house music it is the BOMB!

"Buy this. Now."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
havent dealt with too many others to call this the best yet.
Sound
Great for what I use it on. I only use the noise gate feature through my Boss ns-2 and a 5150 (I and II). It kills ALL of the unwanted noise and dead air while the Boss gets rid of feedback.
Features
Great. Very easyo to work with and personalize/tweak.
Quality
Alesis has yet to let me down with any studio equipment thus far.
Value
Cheap, sturdy, reliable, and effective.
The Wow Factor
It balances perfectly the utiliterian and flash factors. Alot of cool lights and knobs, but they actually do things.

Really not worth buying. I wish I could say otherwise, but it just doesn't get worse than this.
Sound
I wouldn't give something a 1 for no reason. This unit does a injustice to anything you send through it in terms of mud and noise.
Features
Lots and lots of features, which are pretty nice at this price point.
Ease of Use
This is a very easy to use compressor, even for new users. It is easy to make it sound as good as it is going to sound: crappy.
Quality
I just don't understand why this product is still being purchased, although my best guess is the price. The recommendations from others on here make it pretty apparent that their opinion comes from only using junk gear. I've worked in the recording industry for 12 years as an engineer -- both in small and large studios -- and this is absolutely the most horrible sounding compressor out there. It starts spitting artifacts way too early and the overall response is harsh and unmusical.
Value
Straight up this is a waste of money. Anyone with a decent ear will want something better the second they plug this in. There are many great options within this relative price point.
Manufacturer Support
I've dealt with them several times in the past and always had a good experience.
The Wow Factor
I gave a price because the product is very appealing -- it just doesn't deliver.

"Made to last you in any usage setting with no regrets"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Good enough for studio and live usage, this compressor delivers wonders as the sound produced is what you want in transparency and neutrality. Alesis did it all. No regrets for this lightweight platform that is made to serve its master for good.
Sound
The sond delivered after compression is very neutral and clean with GOOD DYNAMICS and clarity. No doubt this compressor is the best of its kind. TS inputs/outputs are perfect for insert mixers with additional sidechains. Alesis is good!
